I don't care what she tries to do to endear herself as some maverick or on the people's side - she is a total nincompoop and simpleton the continental US will never rally behind.

Everyone in this thread that actually lives and pays taxes in Alaska, raise your hand. Ah good, all of you can continue to bitch and moan as you so desire.

Any of you who don't, please feel free to complain about your own governor.

Edit: Since the partisanship is so blatant in this thread, perhaps she could redeem herself if she attempted to sell Ted Stevens' Senate seat?

Why is it bad that she collects money for working from home?

Because the per diem for being away from the capitol (notice the 'o') is supposed to compensate the governor for the price of a hotel room and meals out.

She's not supposed to stay home and just pocket the damn money. It's a misuse of the per diem's intended purpose.

gee, I think this is up to the people of Alaska to decide don't you?

WTF do you care how she does her job as long as it gets done and since you are not a resident how she does or does not do her job has no impact on you.

You didn't care BEFORE she was nominated and put in the spot light...why the fuck should you now?

"The people of Alaska", through their government, have already decided, sparky. A per diem is meant to reimburse road expenses, not to pocket while living at home. She's a small time piker.

AND this petty larceny of hers isn't about what I think, or what YOU think I should be allowed to care about. I care about government misfeasance at all levels and in all juridictions, and YOU, sport, don't get to tell me otherwise.

Caribou Barbie is a garden level gummint teat sucker. This goes right hand in glove with her inability to speak coherently and her appalling national and international ignorance.

Sarah Palin is a monument to dimbulb mediocrity and mendacity.

and again...if the people of Alaska had a problem with it they would handle it IF they felt that it was a problem...I'm sorry where do you live again?

You did not give two shits about her, how she did her job or who she was
BEFORE she was nominated.

IF you are truly concerned about politics I would think you had much bigger issues to worry about.

But you seem to have this Palin fixation.....she has already gone back to Alaska and resumed doing her job, the job the people of Alaska hired her for and are pleased to have her back.

You telling me that there is nothing going on in your home state or city that you could worry about more? Or are you just one of those hacks that are going to follow her every step and seek out something to knock her for?

You are starting to sound a lot like another chronic bitcher on this forum. (sounds like cave)

I find it absolutely hilarious that

A. The left is still infatuated with Palin a month and a half after the election
B. They complain about per diems. Go check out your state senators, gov, and judges. They all get them. I am sure you will be down protesting your respective state reps today right?

Ah, right; malfeasance should be forgotten after Six Weeks.

Everyone else does it, so Palin should not be criticized. Of course!

You are right...that is really, truly Hilarious.

She is irrlevant. Yes she should be forgotten. But I suspect knowing the way the left never lets things go we will be hearing about her for years to come.

That is a strawman argument you are presenting in the last line. I am pointing out the faux outrage over per diems and the hypocrisy of people to complain about her's while not caring at all about their own state representatives. Not condoning per diems.

You make the false assumption that people don't care about their own representatives, and you do not seem to understand what a "strawman" argument is.

If she took the raise they'd go after her, if she turned down the raise they'd go after her. If Obama turns down a raise as president, they'll worship his selfless act, if he accepts a raise it'll be because he certainly deserves it.

Yeah, completely ignored, except for, you know, being the sole focus of every tv, internet and print news media since the story broke. There might even be a discussion on the situation in P&N somewhere.

or the idiocy of Caroline Kennedy

Yep, ivy league educated lawyer, twice published author, a complete moron, totally unqualified. Also covered in every form of news media since her name was floated. There might even be a discussion on the situation in P&N somewhere.

...lets just keep hammering the GOP and Palin...

I think we can handle both without much stress.

I've never been involved in those discussions. I don't live there and frankly, I don't give a shit. It was a position held by a Democrat and it will be filled by a Democrat. I don't live in Illinois, so why should I care?

If I need to explain the post to you I will, but only once. She turned down a raise and petty, partisan minds have found fault in that. I would hope that you could grasp the absurdity of that thinking. Someone else will have to take over if you need more of an explanation than that.

Well, she's also been anointed as the next right-wing messiah by the fundie-first crowd.

I'm not saying that left doesn't seem to have a complex, I think there's just a great deal of fear regarding allowing anyone as incompetent as Bush back into the White House, and Palin, most honest people would agree is even less capable than the current occupant.

So yeah there's some fear there, and not completely irrational given the sad state of affairs in the good 'ol US of A these days.

She is just as prominent in conservative conversation circles as she is in liberal ones. She rose to national prominence during a national election and pretty much made a laughingstock of herself. After the election she didn't quietly fade away, but went on a whirlwind publicity tour, took a dozen nationally broadcast interviews, signed a book deal, spoke at the GOP governors conention and signaled her intention to explore a 2012 presidential run ensuring that the country will keep an interested eye on her for the next 4 years. Frankly, in a country with the attention span of a racoon, it's impressive she's managed to keep herself in the spotlight.

...and, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter whether she accepted or turned down the raise...just mention her name and the Left makes Pavlov's dogs look like slow learners.

Shrug. I'm a lefty, this is not a big story. Some people are just catnip to political opposites. Saying the words "Hillary Clinton" makes most righties turn beat red. More likely, it's a business decision as people (right and left) click on a story when Palin's name appears in the headline. She's become a celebrity (and has worked to maintain that status) so now she gets non-newsworthy stories published about her. If a random woman gets out of a car in a short skirt sans undies you won't see pictures of it in the Enquirer. When a teenybopper socialite does it, you do.

Sure, lets stop going after the GOP after royally screwing up things up for years. Soon as people start looking at your corruption you instantly scream persecution and cry like infants.

I don't know why you replied with that bolded part since I asked a very specific question, and it was answered in your first paragraph. I hope you can see the absurdity in answering a question that was never asked, and concluding that someone else would need to take over the explanation if it wasn't good enough.

We have 3 or 4 threads about Illinois' governor and I didn't see you posting in there that only people that live in Illinois should care about it, so I was seeing if you had a consistent viewpoint or were merely being partisan. If you truly believe that corruption in a state's government is only relevant to the people of that state, I have no problem with that position. I disagree, but I can see why someone can believe that.

How about she decided to keep and raise a child with Down's Syndrome? I know its hard for some of you to see past your hatred and lust to destroy a person.. but for f--ks sake..

Hurf durf.

Oh, so if I were a woman and decided to keep and raise a child with DS, I'd be a logical candidate for Vice President?

No, big sale on Hertz donuts.
