Palin interview on 20/20 on TV now

It is just starting. Should be more of this former sportscaster's parroting of the coaches' lines trying to get the issue of her being inadequate for national office under control.

Fixed.

roflcopters, but seriously will this be as textbook as the last one?

I had a bad vision tonight. It's early October. Biden has verbally lacerated Palin in a debate. The media the next day calls it, but then something happens. Some people start to say she was belittled, perhaps even they feel bad for her. Before we know it, the end result of the debates is that Biden manhandles her and she makes off better in great part because of pity for her and in another people projecting the idea that a lipsticked bulldog hockey mom can actually go toe to toe.

And yes, I have a political crush on Biden, it's hard to ignore and biases me, so you can ignore the above, it's pure hackery.

Fortunately for her the Christian right doesn't expect the person they vote for to be worldly or knowledgeable. As long as she represents the moral authority she will "win" every debate she's in.

What are you guy going to do if Biden doesn't beat the hell out of her in the debate??

I mean this is Biden we are talking about. The same Biden that told a paraplegic to stand up so the people could see him.

The Biden who did so well in Democrat debate that he got a whole 1% of the vote! WooHooo roll Biden Roll!!!

At this rate, he won't need to ....

McCain should send Palin to the presidential debate while he gives a policy speech and pull a no-show at the VP debates since the Obama camp seems to content putting Palin at the same level as Obama and letting Biden fade into obscurity. 😛

1% more than Palin got in the presidential primaries, because he was in the presidntial race at all as a credible candiate, she was not for good reason.

I wish she would just say:
'Yes I wanted the bridge. Like everyone else we were using the system to get every penny we could get. But now I realize that the position John McCain has always had is the correct position. It is time to end earmarks and make all spending go through normal the budgetary process so they can be examined and vetted properly.'

I think Americans would accept that answer far more than the one she is using now.

I can't believe I'm saying this ....... but I kind of agree with you.

Her answer was complete BS. "Our programs weren't earmarks, but we'll end them in a McCain/Palin admin".

Her dancing on the earmark segment should be dubbed the Palin Perfect Circle

So, you had lobbyist to get you earmarks?
"Yes, but we are far from Washington"

Your state had more earmarks per person than Obama's state of Illinois.
"We're trying to cut back"

This year, you asked for over 3 million to study seal genetics.
"Well, that was in the open, we're saying no to lobbyist earmarks"

It was the biggest fumble of the whole thing, IMO. It just isn't a credible stance.

Most people wish their preferred candidate would make the intelligent statement. All too frequently they resort to BS instead (see J. F. Kerry, ca. 2004).

She is definitely not a straight shooter. Typical avoiding the issue politician stuff. I like listening to John McCain answer questions for that reason...well the Old McCain

I don't know.. even when Obama and Biden are semi spinning

It seems they are talking directly to the interviewer, and at least making an attempt to address the question

The old McCain did that too..

Sarah Palin is like Tracy Flick from the move, Election

Index cards and all

My take:
She does really good on issues that she knows well.

She struggles on issues she does not have a good command of.

The good thing is that with time she will get better on those issues. She is differently a likable person. And we should never underestimate the appeal that has with people.

BTW to many political ads during the commercials. But I love the McCain ads. Obama will kill your children :cue happy music: I a John McCain and I approved this message.

Not Gonna Happen. For one, they don't really want to get rid of them. For another, it would provide another example she lied, and that can quickly be politically crippling.

I understand that *you* think that they really want to get rid of earmarks and that they really don't like the corrupt spending, but that's a problem I don't have a cure for you on.

Well not one you will take, anyway. It's hard for people who put their trust in a party or candidate to find out how they've been manipulated, and makes it hard to accept.

That's where so much of the passion and venom comes from in political discussion, people who are attacking the other side, because if they're wrong, they've been manipulated.

Women on COPS keep going back to the boyfriend who abused them, and voters keep going back to the party who used them.

That's why you see the 'independant', thoughtful people like Kevin Phillips or John Dean leave a party on principle much more than you see the typical voters leave a party.

Imagine if PJ were to put up a post that the corruption of the Republicans has gone too far and he's leaving the party. Where would that leave him? Without a home and party. He'd face all kinds of 'I told you so's' form his former opponents who treat him with suspicion, and criticism from his old allies who attack 'traitors'. How likely is that to happen?

Not referring to PJ, people are quick to say they put principle ahead of party, but slow to back it up. And so this forum is filled with the false and irrational excuses for their parties.

Thanks for that intriguing analysis Mr. Madden.
Nice of you to use the nice edited version that leaves off most of her answer.

Try watching the WHOLE answer. link

BTW I think you now hold the title of most untrustworthy poster. It is getting to the point that if you told me the sky was blue I would look it up first to make sure you aren't lying.

On the bright side, Charlie Gibson has now conducted a more extensive Palin interview than McCain did before picking her ....

Thank you Paul Begala.

The problem you make ProfJohn is that you and I are NOT running for VP. Why don't you have higher expectations from your political leaders? Why do you want them to be average like us?

Missed it on TV and now watching it on ABC news online. Not terribly impressed honestly.

Only thing I liked was how she said her personal opinion might be different from the administration's policies. Whether they'll follow through is another matter.

I trust McCain infinitely more than Obama, but I'm waiting for the debates.
