Could McCain have picked a worse running mate?

yes, he could have picked any of the GOP primary also-rans.

in any event, this is a non-story... though then again, so is Ayers, Keating, Cuntgate, etc.

How is this a non-story? There is footage of her speaking at these conventions.

Actually I think Romney would have been a much stronger pick for him. Having someone who isn't a total airhead about the economy and finance could have made the current disaster less of a factor in his campaign's downturn.

CUNTGATE is NOT a Non-STory! Cuntgate needs to be fully delved into by the members of the media.

this is a story because it exposes the hypocrisy of palin when she says obama sees this country differently as in through the eyes oa a terrorist sympathizer - trying to claim that she and mccain obviously are the opposite, see america as such a wonderful place.

so wonderful, she speaks at the convention and is married to a member of a party whose founder said, just a few decades ago, to damn american and her institutions he just needs alaska.

palin is a piece of shit. so is mccain. nothing new here.

now personally, i dont have any issue with a secessionist party that tries to legally secede with the will of the people. the problem with palin is that she is nothing but fake. she has no substance.

Well, there's no recording of him on record saying it. So it's all he said, she said.

I wouldn't call Keating a non-story. Keating clearly had influence over McCain who then tried to influence regulators. All four of the senators involved should have gone to jail with Keating. Many people lost all of their wealth in this deal and the corrupt politicians got off with no more than a handslap. Now one of these men is running for president as a "maverick." Sure, a maverick that describes helping the fraudster Keating as "helping the little lady who didn't get her Social Security." Yeah, how many little old ladies donated $112,000 to McCain's campaigns? McCain is scum in my opinion (but so are most politicians).

The Keating Five is just one example where politicians obviously acted contrary to the good of their country by accepting legal bribes. In my opinion, McCain should be in jail to this day. We need to starting setting precedents that corruption, in any form, by our public officials will not be tolerated. This applies to both parties.

Known about it for a while, not sure why she'd talk about an ayers link when I find this more damning. However, it explains are patent lack of knowledge for anything national or international, doesn't it?

They might. We've known about this for weeks but got distracted. I find her association this year with a party that has as one of its tenets a desire to seceed from the country she is trying to become VP for to be absolutely damning to be frank. I am not sure of another reasonable way to see it, but I'm all ears.

It's a story because they choose to make the ayers/wright type accusations against Obama. Personally, I think it's all BS on both sides - but if the repubs want to sling bullshit, when they've got similar that can be slung back, well, they deserve it.

I know this is an irrelevant to the discussion, but time for a cliched statement!

I think playing the guilt by association game is BS on both sides, but there could be something else here than that. She spoke at their convention, what did she say there? Since is was a secessionist convention, presumably it wasn't anything good. It's one thing to try to judge someone by their "ties", it's another to judge someone by what they personally have said.

Guilt by association is calling me guilty because I had you over for beer and then you murdered somebody the next day. This is talking at a party that you are very familiar with, that your husband is a part of, too. This is not guilt by association; this is association; you are the association.

The video is totally worthless.

Where is the whole Palin video where she addresses the convention? What we saw looks like a standard greeting. No different than I am sure dozens of taped greetings that governors create.

Watch her whole video link
Nothing questionable in it.

"Palin gave a speech to a group; she was unaware of the more radical aspects of the group at the time. Her husband is a member of said organization, and while the Palins, like every couple, do not agree on every single political issue, Todd Palin does not support the absurd idea of Alaskan secession."

Yes, and your point?

This is the third largest party in Alaska. It aligns itself with the constitution party in the rest of the country. It is essentially a libertarian party.

It's crazy secessionist views are an off shot of its libertarian beliefs.

Ah but using the Wingnut logic of PJ, Corbett and CSG she's guilty by association.
