While dphantom has basically demonstrated that I exaggerated some, but to call the kettle black, dphantom also grossly is misrepresenting the threat the relative size of the North Vietnamese army compared to AVN who had 1.1 million troops. But could only field a tiny fraction of those with an army riddled with corruption and incompetence under a government that had lost the support of the people.

If you knew anything about military matters, you would know that combat power is not necessarily measured by raw numbers. As your source points out, of the 1.1 million military forces of RVN, roughly 100,000 were combat effective. Much of the ARVN was tied down in static defense while its logistic train due to corruption was way too big.

And you did not exaggerate some. You outright lied. I'm not one of those who think we could have/should have stayed and won but if you are goign to make an argument, you better be accurate and represent the facts as they are.

Kill all the opium/heroin addicts in the world and destroy the Taliban/al-queda economy. Try to run any kind of administration with a "zero" budget. I doubt direct contributions could ever come close to matching that income.

I fail to see any practicality in that so called solution.
