The fact that we haven't gotten ridden of the confederate flag speaks volumes about this country and how it truly feels about African Americans and the sins of the forefathers. It is akin to people in Germany still walking about the swastika.

It doesn't become true just because you keep repeating it. African Americans seem to have a very different opinion on the matter than you do.

It's a battle flag of people who fought to keep African Americans as slaves, to have a right to continue to steal their labor, beat, rape, and kill them. I wouldn't say it says nothing of African Americans. It also says a lot about the "identity" of the people still flying it.

You guys keep showing your ignorance of American history. People should be far more concerned about the slavery that continues today: Africa, ME, Asia. Wiping the swastika off of the face of the earth (not happening) won't make those revolting white supremacists stop hating. The same goes for the Confederate battle flag. Making it go away won't do a thing to stop racism. Typical symbolism over substance and PC BS. And btw, there is no right to not be offended by something. Libs are quick with that line when something offends a non lib.

: xBiffx - There were african american slave owners. There were non african american slaves. Sorry, this isn't and wasn't about slavery, and it certainly isn't all about african americans. Plenty of people in the north that held slaves as well. Where was their flag?

Slavery was one of the catalysts, but this is correct. The libs also don't like to advertise that it was blacks in Africa that captured other blacks and sold them to the white Europeans at coastal slave markets.

No one is suggesting making flag illegal but since governments represent all people not just whites who opposed civil rights, governments should not fly.

BTW - I don't recall any statues or declarations of honor for African blacks who sold other blacks back in the day. If there were, your second point would be valid.

Wrong

Yes

Right, but please point to where I said anything about wiping it off the face of the earth? Do you feel good about kicking the shit out of that strawman?

Slavery was one of the catalysts, but this is correct. The libs also don't like to advertise that it was blacks in Africa that captured other blacks and sold them to the white Europeans at coastal slave markets.

WTF does this have to do with a flag in the US? Also I recall learning this little tidbit in high school as part of American History. Can you point to evidence of this information being repressed or downplayed?

The rebel flag is the identity of the South, and says nothing of African Americans.

Making such attribution is your made up effort to be bigoted and hateful towards the South, from the actions of a lone gunman the South unanimously condemned. You'd rather sow the seeds of division he hoped to achieve.

Huh? Is this a parody post?

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/06/what-this-cruel-war-was-over/396482/

I respectfully challenge you to read this very detailed and convincing piece as just an introduction to the voluminous words/deeds/actions of the South in support of white supremacy and slavery; i.e. very much about African Americans. They all carried Confederate battle flags and, post Civil War, they were proudly flown in the South when Jim Crows laws were passed and during school desegregation of the 1960's.

I guess it is fucking insane to get rid of a symbol of racism, bigotry and sedition because it may mess up ur idea of TV history. I guess you got ur priorities in the right order.

After the white hood, burning cross, hanging tree, Whites Only sign, other(you have heard "Dead *Black*, No Humans Involved") etc., the rebel flag is low on my list of racist symbols.

Lame argument. Others are doing bad things, so we should excuse Confederates who did bad things and fly their flag over state houses. If you want to self-identify yourself as a supporter of racists, traitors, and people who fought a war for slavery against America, you are welcome to do so, and be a pariah.

That's not what Confederates themselves said.

Exactly. There isn't one. And it's not flying over any state houses. You know why, because Northerners got rid of slavery themselves, they didn't fight a loser war against America under the Confederate flag to keep slavery.

And of those, which ones do you think our government should show support for?

The argument that there are more important things to worry about is a common tactic in politics used to deflect but we all know it's just a false dilemma.

I'm fine with taking the flag off of state buildings. As for the car, like others have said it's his car and he can do what he wishes, though I think it's silly to ruin a piece of history.

As to your last comment, the lib stupid keeps on growing. Just because there's no statues you think that's invalid??? The History Channel talked about it, son. Slavery was going on in Africa before evil whitey showed up. And it's still happening.

Tell our history, with warts and all. Libs love to emphasize the warts; you'd think they'd want stuff like this kept around to remind everyone how evil southern white people were / are.

We have enough red neck trash polluting this country that reminds us every day of how worthless southerners are, hardly need a car.

Slavery was one of the catalysts, but this is correct. The libs also don't like to advertise that it was blacks in Africa that captured other blacks and sold them to the white Europeans at coastal slave markets.

Because it doesn't matter. Don't try to hurt yourself repeating dumbshit talking points you aren't smart enough to understand.

So that makes Confederacy OK? Two wrongs don't make a right.

Top 3 States for Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a global epidemic, but it doesn’t only take place in foreign countries. The Department of State Trafficking in Persons Report for 2012 states that the United States is a top “source, transit and destination country for men, women and children–both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals–subjected to forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude and sex trafficking.”

I guess girls will be prosecuted for wearing "daisy dukes" as well?

prosecuted?

also wtf are you talking about?

great. so there were five white slaves. So you're right, Biff, slavery really shouldn't be a big deal with blacks.

congratulations.

Does it matter what Confederates said? No. It matters what was done.

You need to read some history books. Northerners didn't get rid of slaves themselves. An amendment was passed which made it illegal.

Did I say it wasn't a big deal with blacks. Nope. But that's a nice strawman you got there. :\

And there were a hell of a lot more than five white slaves.

Wow, total reading comprehension failure. I never said anything about excusing anything. And in a subsequent post I did say that I have no issue with removing said flag form state buildings.

So that makes Confederacy OK? Two wrongs don't make a right.

Again, your reading comprehension skills would have to improve just to suck. You're as ignorant of our history as you're as ignorant about about almost every other topic you attempt to discuss.

We have enough red neck trash polluting this country that reminds us every day of how worthless southerners are, hardly need a car.

Ah, the good old liberal tolerance. I'm no fan of rednecks, btw, but like Muslims (which the libs love to stick up for) the vast majority of rednecks are basically harmless.

Because it doesn't matter. Don't try to hurt yourself repeating dumbshit talking points you aren't smart enough to understand.

Again, you're completely ignorant of US history. I'm not the stupid one here, son.

Point one: maybe you're not, but based on other posts, others are.
Point two: Good 🙂
Point three: I wasn't attempting any strawman. I was only pointing out that the symbol is really irrelevant as hate and racism are matters of the heart ant mind.
Point four: This thread branched off from just 'the flag'. And I'm glad you were better informed than (what appears to be) most people re: US history.

Wrong

you brought up northerners, black slave owners, and white slaves.

I'm curious about your understanding of the strawman concept when it comes to a debate or discussion.

Is it similar to your grasp of the concept of "rate"?

I brought up slavery in a slavery discussion. That's a strawman now? Oh, we were only allowed to talk about white southern racist slave owners who owned black slaves. Sorry, I didn't get the memo.🙄
