I've playing on 'em pretty much since Xmas. About to finish second run through of PF + BOoh at "Nightmare Level"

There's a bunch of stuff not in the manual. If you really cream somebody with the alt fire of the painkiller, they'll spit out a bigger gold coin worth extra $

If you get funky with the primary and alt fire, I've seen a third fire option on some weapons. Ex. The elctro/shurkin gun can be made to spit blue bombs ;)

Weapon Combos ;)

Painkiller
Spin it (PRI) then launch (SEC)
Flies forward WHILE spinning. A one-hit kill on most enemies.

Juggle for Gold
Pull the enemy towards you, then get under them and rapid-fire up (SEC) gold flies out. :D

Stake gun
Launch a grenade (SEC) then spear it midflight (PRI)
Grenade takes off like a rocket. Very nice, and works well on bosses.

Electroshocker
Hold (SEC) then launch a spike (PRI)
Entire spike-disc gets charged and frisbeed out. Sticks in walls, enemies, and electricity arcs to enemies, around corners, etc. AWESOME deathmatch weapon.

Interesting. Haven't seen that yet. Seems card for "quick weapon reloading" w/b helpful here!

Aim up first (45 degrees) and fire the grenade - then drop to about 10-15 and fire stake. :) Once you practice it a few times, it becomes second nature. :D

he he . . . can't believe this is the game thread that refuses to die. :D

PK/BOoH is such a great game . . . the first time i used the Pain Killer timed with an eXtra big jump was like WTF

the weapons combos are a trip . . . . discovering them was a lot of fun . . . plus the "hidden places" are over-the-top and the well-timed series of jumps are particularly satisfying when you complete them.

i am SO looking forward to PK II

KotOR is still "going" . . . not my "type" of game though . . . may "pause" it to play SS2. :D

What's all this speak of cards and what not? Saw the game @ Walmart and remembered this thread - Didn't pick it up just yet, but still thinking about it! :D

What's it's deal? Convince me I say!

it's only $20 . . . . REread the thread ;)

. . . . PK is a "twitch-shooter" with some depth and excellent REplay value for a SP FPS . . . . not to mention eXcellent gfx . . .
(PK also has MP, but i don't play online)

what more were you looking for?

. . . . I REalize that it's only $20 dollars and I have read through the thread, but it's mostly talk of patches, updates, and how it runs on X system. :p

I just wanted to know what it was like . . . . what it's about, etc as I've never played, let alone even HEard of it.

That's what MOre I was looking for!

:p

We obviously love the game in this thread . . . . read the "profesional" reviews . . . . they also generally really like the game but most don't "get' it's replay value with the Black Tarot Cards and unlocking the extra levels, finding the secret places . . . . Gamespot.com (i think) has the links to everything includig patches and screenies plus walkthrus and reviews.

After you read them, you can get a good idea of the game . . . most of the time it got at least a 8/10
(i think . . . it's been 'awhile')

i give it 8/10

:D

Edit: Is this game any way Serious Sam-ish?

Yes . . . . superficially - it is "related" to Serious Sam and Doom in that it is primarily a "twitch" shooter with lots (and lots) of multiple enemies, great firepower and Huge Bosses . . . until you get to the "subtlities" of this fast-paced shooter . . . . you get to use the Black Tarot Cards, weapons-combos, clever hidden places and some insane jumping (using the Havok Physics engine).

Serious Sam has very limited Replay value . . . . PK/BPoH encourages REplay with unlockable levels and alternmate endings.

edit:
There are two demos of PK that can be d/l'ed . . . personally, i didn't care for the levels the demos represented when it first came out and left PK until it became bargain bin (in-other-words, the Demos aren't too representative of the entire game but'll give you an "idea" of the gameplay - not the subtlities of the game).
