Pain behind knee

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this type of this. I'll tell you up front - it's not actual knee pain. It's medial on the dorsal side of my knee. It's feels 100% like a tendon. However, it feels like a cramping sensation. As I throw a knee and my leg goes into flexion, it starts to get extremely tight. It also gets worse if I extend my foot rather than when I dorsiflex (although I get the sensation with both). Anybody have experience with this? I'll be asking some physical therapists soon and see what I can do about it. It's really, really uncomfortable though. Thanks in advance, guys.

I only feel it in a portion about 1-1.5in long, however after a suggestion from eits, it may be the popliteus tendon/muscle. I looked up pathologies with both, but they suggest full extension would be a problem. I have no problem with extension though, only with flexion. Perhaps I'll just have to use it a bit lighter until everything gets stretched and conditioned.

I'm still open to suggestions if others have them.
