Paid my car off. /brag

I did that on one of the cars but kept it on the Durango and my daughter's car (for obvious reasons on hers). I've debated on the $19 per month on the Durango for awhile...I could get about 5.5 gallons of gas per month with all that money, lol! 😛

There is nothing to debate. Insurance companies make money off the spread of odds of paying you out and a lot of it. Insurance is always a loser and should only be carried if forced by law. Now my wife won't let me cancel it on house but it doesnt change the fact it's a loser. Actuarials are a lot smarter than me.

U rule.😀 Now cancel full coverage. Another scam.

A couple years ago I paid $10k even for an 07 fusion. Over 10 months I paid about $1k total in premiums. Then my brother totaled it. The check from the bank was for $11.4k AFTER the $1k deductible

So I got paid $400 to drive a car for a year

And you paid that $400 back in "increased" premiums each year for the next 3 to 5 years! 😛

Money for nothing...checks for free!!! :whiste::whiste:

Doesn't matter odds are you won't total it. Your 10 next cars you won't total saving thousands in premiums even if you took $10,000 hit with one. You can't argue with insurance company math they make billions with their calculations. Why not put it in your pocket instead?

The problem is that the numbers are on their side, like Vegas. Individually, most of us can't afford to take that kind of loss.

Driving what you can't afford to lose incurs additional expense(s) so you really didnt pay it off.

Only on AT do I pay a car off and someone says I really didn't pay it off. Damn do I love this place, it's like some sort of alternate reality.

Insurance is not a scam. It is shared risk. I am happy to pay my insurance, as my insurance payouts have been higher than I have paid in on my auto and house.

Hail damage to car, twice (pocketed cash twice).
Broken into car, replaced all stereo equipment and damages.
Cracked windshields repaired numerous times.
Wind damage gave me a "free" $6000 roof to house.

Nope! My premiums went down $20 on the next car which was pretty much identical (06 fusion)

Exception doesn't make the rule. Odds are most of us will lose money on insurance throughout our lifetime and insurance companies make billions annually from our ignorance/fear.

That's okay my wife is a scardy cat too it's normal.
