Thanks.

You mail it in, they mail you the game. Or you can just download from the net.

One word of warning - you can download from Steam for free.... but if you want the CD version, it will cost you $10 for 2-3 week shipping or $15 for 1-2 week shipping (probably get it faster than that, but that's what they advertise). Still, the deal is hot enough to warrant replacing my Geforce3 Ti200.

Did you install the card yet.

I'm in the same boat as you, GeForce3 Ti200 and wondering if this is worth the upgrade?

I haven't installed it yet - been busy working. :( I might get to it this weekend. :)

At present, I don't have any issues with recent games with the Ti200. For example, I played Max Payne 2 at 1024 x 768 at the highest resolution settings. The only thing it didn't let me do was have mirrored reflections (a function the card just doesn't support, for some reason). However, the Ti200 won't last me forever, especially with the graphics intensive games coming out early next year. And, at present, this card is the best "bang for the buck", IMO. It should keep me going for another 2 or 3 years (as opposed to a few more months with the Ti200).

In short, although I haven't installed it yet, if you can find one, I'd recommend getting it.

I went from a Ti4200 @ Ti4600 sppeds to a Radeon 9600pro. It's more than worth it. It's one of my best upgrade since my DLT3C xp1700. :D

Here's the timeline. I got a Ti200 on Black friday two years ago and loved it to death cause it was at Ti500 speeds. Then it died on me, I got a 8500LE which I oc to the retail speed. I wan't impress with the speed but it was alright. The image quality owns. Then I got a refurb Ti4200 to play with and it was alright, graphics was not as good as the 8500LE. DVD playback was......terrible. I actually noticed the difference. I got a good deal for a 9600Pro which I Oc it to 500/675. Plays all the games I throw at it with eye candy on. Unless you play games with AF/AA on, don't bother with the 9600pro and stick with your ti4600. :)

After I read that it has 64-bit memory I was going to exchange it for a PRO but I needed a video card tonight so I thought I would just use it untill the weekend. To my suprise and delight when I opened the box I noticed that the sticker on the card noted a 9600PRO. Using Clock Rate the default core is reported as 420 and mem at 324. This was an unopened package with the HL2 coupon enclosed.

Now it's time to overclock this puppy!
First of all, DRS, thanks for hookup, second, was anyone successful in overclocking this to Firing Squad results (480CPU/360DDR)? I got to about 440/320 before artifacts started popping up. Also How do you change clock in small incriments? Clock rate in Omega drivers screws up as soon as you touch increment slider. Thank you!

There was a 9600SE with 18034 on the shelf still.

Thank you thank you. You just removed my last bit of temptation. I'm in Ann Arbor as well, was debating whether I want to get this. But since there is none left, I won't have to waste any more brain cells on it. :D Thanks.

What I really want is a radeon 9800 Pro (but that 9600 was cheap). But really don't want to spend more than $200 on a graphics card. Anyone got any ideas when the price will drop below $200?

Sorry to add the temptation back in, but the Best Buy in Westland had 4 180339s left as of last night. I picked one up no problem, 9600 Pro.

So if it has 180339 it is 100% pro, BUT some have said the 180336 is also a pro. Is that a 100% thing or just a maybe?

Is it just me, or does 180336xxx & 180339xxx series seem to be more clustered in the east/midwest? I haven't heard of many west coast members having much success tracking these down?

Stopped at the BB in Pittsburgh (Robinson) and they had 2 of S/N 180339xx and one of 180336xx. Picked up one of the 180339's, got home and sure enough its a 9600 Pro.

2 left!

Yeah... looks like it. A week ago my local BB had at least 15-20 9600SEs... but i didn't bother checking them out until after i saw this thread. I come back and theres only about 5-6 left... all of them being 18034s... i don't know if the original stock had any 180339s... ..

Went to Frys yesterday and they had about 13-15 9600SEs with all of them being 18034s... :(

Just a FYI to everyone looking to get a Svideo->RCA (composite) converter.

svideo.com has them, and it is only $6.95 with free shipping (came 2 days after I placed the order in US mail).

Tried it out, and it works great!

ATI had the part for $5 but $10 shipping.

I picked up the last one in Manassas, VA

here is the scoop...... I have a 9500np with the "L" memory that will not softmod. it does overclock very well though (390/285). I score 12,600 3d2K1 with it.

I installed the 9600pro and ran it at defualt speeds.....scored 10,650 marks. I overclocked it to the max (515/333) and it scored 11,980

so the bottom line as far as my rig goes is that a 9500np overclocked will totally crush a 9600pro..even overclocked.

I did install the drivers twice because I was sure it was a mistake in the score, but it wasn't....I am kind of shocked the 9500 holds up so well. This card is going back to best buy unless someone local wants to meet up (Dale city/Manassas VA)

here are my specs...only thing changed was the video card
AMD XP1700@2400 (12x166)
Epox 8K3A
768mb PC2700 (2-2-5-2)
Sapphire Radeon 9500np/ ATI Radeon 9600 pro
win XP pro
