Hi saechaka,
Yes its a non-pro that does not softmod. It does have the "L" shaped memory though so I am wondering how much benefit does the 256bit bus have over the 128bit bus.

I don't want this to wander off topic as this is a great deal.....$130 for a 9600pro and Free HL2. I just wanted to bring this up to those thinking of ditching the 9500np for this card.

I started a topic on this in Rage3d here is the link:

FYI I was at the Easton (Morse Rd) BB today and they had about 6 SE's--I only checked the first two and they were 180339s.

Yes Fry's has the video card but I don't know if they have the 9600PRO in the box though. Good luck.
Just don't go to CC.

Hi All

Just got back from the BB in Lafayette, Louisiana. They had FIVE on the shelf with the "33" serial number on them - four after I left the store. Opened the box at home and indeed there is a fan on the GPU and teh label says 9800Pro 128mb. I won't install it right away - need to decide if I want to keep it vs staying with my Ti4200 vs waiting for the FX5700 to come down in price (BLACK FRIDAY IS LOOKING VERY TEMPTING IF SOMEONE HAS ONE ON SALE THAT DAY!).

I'm going back and troll all the sites with reviews of the 9600Pro & FX5700. I know the advantages of the Radeon series vs FX. My main concern is that I've read the Radeons have some issues in older games (and I have MANY of those that have run GREAT on all my Nvidia cards).

I was thinking of saving this 9600Pro until after Black Friday and see what develops!

Checked the Yonkers, NY BB and their boxes didnt have the 18003xxxxx number, it only had the # 101-xxxxxx... None of the boxes had the S/N# on it so I couldn't tell if it was the SE or Pro without buying it and opening the box. Guess I wont be picking up a few of these. Sorry for those who msg'd me wanting this card. Will keep my eye out in the next couple of days to see if BB restocks them.

As of late yesterday afternoon, the store on Dodge St in Omaha had 5 of them with the 180339x serial #'s.

If I didn't already have a 9700Pro, I would've picked one up...actually, if my wife would game, I would've picked one up...

It would seem not everyone can get this deal. It may be good for someone. Unless they are trying to sell for retail price.

I myself picked up 2 at the Brookfield, WI BB. They have one left with the correct S/N and one wthout.

So pardon the ATI newbie question (I have been an Nvidia fanatic till I got in on this deal), how do adjust the core and memory speed?

I know this is off topic, but inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks,

Northland

Download the NEW omega drivers. They are faster, at leats for me, and have a built in overclock slider built in.

So who can help a brother out with trying to get this puppy installed now... I'm running a K7ama moboard, athlon 1.4, windows xp pro. Downloaded what I believe to be the latest agp drivers for the board, installed, and garbage...

A couple of dots or some ugly lines. Any advice?? Please :)
