So if it would be a 9600 pro but i'd return it anyway (because i might be dissapointed with the upgrade from ti4200), i could keep the HL2coupon, because it wasn't supposed to be in there in the first place?

you suggest you can get 200 back for it at ATI???

The ones I have all have the HL 2 sticker on them, if you take HL2 coupon out or scratch it off it states on the coupon you are NOT allowed to return the product.
Now there may be some boxes that don't have the sticker on them but the coupon indicates you aren't supposed to return the product in order to receive the free game.
It is stealing imo.
Once again it depends on what you consider an upgrade, are you talking about clock speed or dx9 and pixel shader 2.0, so not sure what you are looking to gain in clock speed for your $$ but for me it's the pixel shader's and dx9, it's actually replacing my 5600 ultra that I just bought.

Opened up the package - the 180339XXXXXXX serial number worked for me = 9600 PRO with a fan on the card. Radeon 9600 Pro 128M, but as another poster said, no cables at all for the DVI or S-Video.

Has anyone ever check any other store like compusa or staples to see if they sell this? Is it cheaper at other stores?

Got one! Got the last one at Virginia Beach, VA. Chesapeake, VA had only 180444 or something like that. Sticker on the 180339 as reported says 9600 Pro. Haven't checked Newport News, VA .

Had one left at BB in my area, wasn't a pro, returned it.

Took like 10 minutes. Hehe.

On a side note they had the 9600 pro cards on sale for 149.99 (20 bucks more than SE version) but they don't get HL2!?

What the heck? Why does just the 9600SE, 9600XT get the HL2 game but not the pro version? Seems stupid to me. (yeah I know the 9800's get it too, just talking about 9600's)

Serial 180339011xxxx will definitely work, just went to BB at Sunrise, FL and there are quite a similar Serials few left.

Opened the box and found a Radeon 9600 PRO. I know that i can get the OEM for the same price, but with HL2, what the heck?!

BTW, CC has a Radeon badged 9600 PRO for 159 AR.

The CompUSA in SUNRISE, FL has all 180340xxxx and due to their horrible return policy, not worthy a try there

Do I see a PM here? Buy at CC, PM BB and get a rebate too?

That is a serious stretch for PM since its actually a Radeon 9600SE according to their website, tags, and receipt.

Just picked up the last one from the lavista rd BB in decatur, GA. sn 180336008xxx and it has the 9600 pro sticker. Good stuff. I have a ti 4200, but since it does come w/ hl2, might as well upgrade.

I saw a price sticker of 9800 (non pro) at best buy ATI 9800 $300 - $50 instant rebate= $250
I think this is better deal than the 9600SE . A price sticker of 9600XT for $199 but no card in the shell . Seem like the 9600xt will be avalaible by this week end
What whould you buy ? I would buy the 9600xt by the time HL2 is avalaible for the price of $150 ( 6 month from now) and borrow or copy from friend the game for free , hehehe

Just picked up one @ BB in Chicago(North ave) with S/N 180339016294. Took it home and it was a 9600 PRO with a HSF and a valid coupon for HL2. There are 2 more left as of 6:30pm with an S/N 180339016421!!!! A big thanks goes to DRS for finding it!!!!! It will look good in my new P4 system.

I have to agree with vanln on this.

HL2 will not be available until March '04.

I would assume we are going to be seeing a drop in video cards prices with the upcoming holiday season.

Why not wait a few months and see what prices are like then.

First the pirate guy sucks, luckily you at least won't be able to play it online.

unknown: HL2 will be out november, or dec at the latest, they won't miss the holiday season I promise you :D

Best Buy in Milpitas only has 2 with 18034....

Stopped by the Frys in San Jose and they had a cart full of the 9600SE's, too bad they were all 18034... too.
