$140-ish gets you either a Bare OEM Powercolor 9600 Pro or a Retail ATI 9600 Pro w/$50 game. What's not to be excited about?

Edit: too slow!

No, not really. The ones I have seen on Pricewatch are NOT *Built by ATI* They are the other OEM partners (Not that there is anything really wrong with that mind you). The Retail package from ATI, the lowest is $148. The others do NOT come with a coupon for HL.

So the advantage is A)Local store. B)30 day return NO RESTOCK FEE. c) same day shipping (add $40 for that option on shipping for online ;)).

Oh, and I guess D) the free hl2 coupon. heh.

Ok, thanks for the clarification Elixer.

RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB AGP VGA DVI-I TVOUT 113A03407100 102A0340700

There were 5 or 6 of the '39' S/N boxes left at the BB on Ann-Arbor Saline here in Michigan

i just picked one up, i guess this deal to me is good mainly because of the free copy of HL2. you can get one of these cards on ebay for about the same price with tax as this BB deal.

there were 4 left at the store in Edina Minnesota.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread but the coupon also gets you the "Valve Platinum Pack" that is "Until Half-Life® 2 is available at retail, Valve and ATI are offering the Valve Premier Pack free, which includes the games: Half-Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Deathmatch Classic, Half-Life: Opposing Force and Ricochet. This is a limited time bonus offer that expires once Half-Life 2 is available."

from the site:

"How do I get the Valve Premier Pack?
The Valve Premier Pack bonus offer is available for a limited time and expires once Half-Life® 2 is released at retail. To get the Valve Premier Pack, you?ll need:

To activate your Half-Life® 2 Activation Key (located behind the scratch box on the coupon provided with your purchase) prior to the release of Half-Life® 2 at retail. You can use this Activation Key to obtain both the Valve Premier Pack and Half-Life 2 (when it becomes available at retail)."

I know the games are old but I have only played them briefly at a friends, can't complain for free.

went out looking for one of these this afternoon in NJ. Had to hit 2 Best Buys because the one in Deptford only had the 18034xxxxx models. However, the Morristown Mall Best Buy had 5 or 6 of the 18033xxxx cards so If your in Southern NJ check it out fast.

The Waterford Orlando BB still has two more of the 180339XXXXX cards in stock. There were three but I just had to bite on this one. The card says Radeon 9600 PRO 128M on the sticker on back. I'll update if I get a chance to load it tonight.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Just got back from Freehold, NJ BB, they had none on the shelf.

They did have the ATI 9600 Pro on clearance for $149 after a $20 MIR though.

I am going to try East Brunswick and/or Holmdel tomorrow.

I have the 9500->9700 soft mod too. I don't know that much about it but I can't tink it's worth upgrading. I doubt anyone here can chime in and trash my opinion as they don't know anything either..... :clock:

The 9500Pro is a better card as it has 8 texture pipelines.

Firing Squad It doesn't appear to be worth the upgrade but may be a better buy for a new system $/performance wise

A 9500np softmodded to a 9700 will kill a 9600 pro. A 9500 pro is also faster than a 9600 pro. So getting one to replace your current card would be a complete downgrade.

My cousin was debating the 9600 Pro and the 9600XT so I told him about this deal and he picked one up tonight at the BB in Erie, PA. His serial number started with 10339 and it turned out to be a 9600 Pro and came with the HL2 coupon. Thanks DRS! You made his day. :)

Unfortunately no, BB no longer has 9500's.

BTW I think this is a good article on the 9600PRO

Bottom line twice as many texture pipelines equals real performance (but at a $ cost).
