I'm a SysAdmin for my company....1,200+ users. Mixed boxes...all workstations Windows 2000/XP, Servers about 60% Windows, 40% UNIX.

I don't touch the UNIX boxes...we have dedicated UNIX guys for them. But it's usually the Widoze boxes that go down. :roll:

Saturday morning, 1:45 AM: Database servers' SCSI card takes dump, takes four drives with it.

Total time at work 9 hours. 🙁 Sleep I got that night: about 90 minutes or so.

This morning, 3:55 AM: Exchange MTA agent stopped running...turns out System disk was full b/c another Sysadmin left Perfmon running for the past five days resulting in a 3GB+ file. Took me an hour to figure out WHY I had no drive space left.

Total time at work: about 90 minutes. Sleep I got last night: about two hours. 🙁

I am SO tired...yet now I can't get back to sleep. I'm supposed to go riding (motorcycle) today...but I can't see straight. The sun is up....it's 8:00 AM here...I'm tired....can't sleep.

I pass the pager to the next guy on the list this Tuesday...I can't wait to get rid of this fkking thing; it always goes off in the middle of the night.

I'm most pissed off that I'm damn tired and it's a beautiful day in Nebraska...for ONCE. :| It's not supposed to rain today...but of course, it IS supposed to POUR for the next few days. 🙁

I work for A Large Company. 😉 That's the best I can do on these here forums. I don't make the big bucks....I make decent bucks...IMO, but I do have The Big Bills.

There are lots of hot women here. 😀 Unfortunately, most are about 15 years younger than I, and only interested in the Ashton Kutcher type. I.E. Young punk that needs a haircut.

Me<--36, in shape, 6'1" 205, clean cut. Nice truck, nice apt. Need GF. Don't know anyone in this city yet...I am working on it though.

I hit on a chick at the fireworks stand yesterday. I gave her my number...she didn't want to give up the digits though. She says she will call. Yeah, sure. *sniff-sniff* What's that smell? Oh, I know; it's the smell of DOUBT. 😀
 
You know, you just described it when I'm on-call for my job except we have 100% Windows servers.

For the most part our servers stay up, but I did have to do an extra 6 hours on Friday night because one of our other admins made some registry changes, wouldn't fess up to what he did, then made me reverse engineer his screw up until 11 PM so people could print again. 😕

It's all good...I could always use the extra $$$.

Not sure what you mean by Exchange Monitoring? Are you talking me being able to remote in from home? Taht's a big no-no. Our network is about as secure as it gets.

OWA is the ONLY thing we have open to the outside...aside from connections to our remote offices.
 
Yeah, I feel you on the girls goin for Ashton Kutcher. Most of the girls I know are either taken or in the 20's and partyin so not lokin for anything serious. Papillion is nice though, I have a friend who lives somewhere out there but I cant remember where. He moves alot. :roll:
 
I just want "Serious" for a weekend or so. 😀

When I moved from TX, I finally got rid of my Emotionally Dependent Ex-GF. We are still friends, and I do care for her...but now she's a new mommy (not mine!!) and she's more screwed up in the head than ever.

I am glad I'm 1K miles away. I am not looking to get married anytime soon. Meaningful 3-day stands are right up my alley, though. 😀

Our Exchange Server is a HP DL380. Dual Xeon 2.6's, four GB of memory, 3 x 36GB 15K SCSI drives, RAID 5. Windows 2000 Adv Svr.

I think it's fast enough...but I'm not in charge of ordering/replacing hardware anyway. I just "do." 😱

I'll be driving through Neb this week on the way to a family reunion in the Dakotas...

Maybe the wife &amp; kids will let me get in some playtime in between tourist attractions.

I TRIED to go back to sleep, but I have a 10-minute drive each way to work...plus I had to think at work...and the sun is up....and I'm done. Stick a fork in me. I think I'll go wash the truck.
