While I can agree that there is a difference between statuatory rape and pedophilia, I have to wonder if it is really all that valid. A friend's daughter was developed enough to need a bra in fourth grade. Another girl I know has a genentic condition that kept her from developing secondary sexual characteristics at all. Noting the bolded part above: That is not necessarily an indication of pedophilia. People lose sight of the fact that pedophilia is the sexual attraction to children who have not yet developed secondary sexual characteristics, regardless of actual age. So having sex with a 14 year old girl is probably not pedophilia in most cases. (Not that it's "right", but it's not pedophilia.)

pedofile, not Paedophile
and hahaha....I love how before the he smacks the "accused", he's hauling ass down the sidewalk like a powerwalker
It's paedophile.
really??
"ae" is used to replace æ, just as "ss" is used to replace ß.
Both spellings are relevent, so lets not argue over that.![]()

No definitions were found for pædophile.
Definitions of pedophile on the Web:
* From two Greek words: ''pedo" means "child;" and "philia" means "love for." This is a word whose meaning is changing. In the past, it referred to an adult who is sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children -- often those who fall into a specific age range, like 5 or 6. Currently, it is evolving to mean a person who sexually molests pre-pubescent children. See hebephile.

Yeah but if it's based off of greek words, that was likely translated into Latin at one time, and æ is a Latin letter. English borrows many Latin words, hence why pædophilia was likely spelled that way. Eventually it became pedophilia.

Out of all the things you could possibly be discussing about this thread/topic, you guys are discussing the proper spelling of the word?
