haha they gave the fight to the guy that would draw crowd. It should have been a draw. Marquez was keeping up with the fight. Not bad.

I think marquez was clearly winning. The punch numbers might have helped Manny but it was a disappointing outcome.

i agree. Not bad for 38yo. It looks like a fight I see at a regular gym. I hate it when they make it as a big event. Marquez was a better fighter. For a champion like manny he didn't do jack.

Based on the reality show, marquez trained better and smarter than he ever has before. Not a bad decision to stop drinking his urine, advise from his old trainer, lol. His current trainer is young but had him doing much more relevant exercises and challenges to build his endurance, strength, reflexes, balance. I thought it paid huge dividends.

In my eyes the fight was a draw. But the champ always gets the benefit of the doubt in close fights, so I don't really have a problem with the decision.
agreed it was very close, I wasn't scoring round by round though. Anybody screaming highway robbery is probably being partisan (full disclosure I was rooting for Manny). At the final bell, I did think JMM could've squeaked out a razor-thin decision but had forgotten challengers rarely get benefit of the doubt from judges.

I thought clearly Manny amped it up in rounds 9-11 because he knew he was behind on scorecards. Apparently he did just enough in the 12th to convert a draw to a victory. ESPN's Dan Rafael who I generally find to be meh pointed out that Nacho Beristain was insane to tell JMM that he had it in the bag and could cruise in the final round. It was far too close to tell his fighter that.

Look at their faces, the biggest nick to Manny was likely from a clash of heads. JMM didn't look too bad, but he clearly sustained more facial puffing.

Marquez looked like he bulked up quite a bit. That, along with the facts coming out that his new conditioning trainer was previously involved with PED, really makes me suspicious.
