I need cardio badly and definitely need toning up so I'm very interested in this. My only concern is that I have hockey 2x a week and don't want to get so sore that I can't even do that anymore. I can't play with very sore muscles - am I getting in over my head? Will I have to quit that for a few months to concentrate on this?

You can do both, but you need to ease yourself into any program. Your body will adapt to the soreness pretty quickly though. Just take it at your own pace, man.

what kind of diet does it make you follow? Will I have to get in on the protein shakes and blends in addition to bland foods?

No diet like that is necessary. You can eat well while eating healthy. Read the fat loss sticky for a list of some healthy foods. Just eat a meal after you work out and you'll be fine.

My girlfriend and I are starting the P90x tonight. I am in decent shape, but I still expect it to own me for three months.

I am 6' 4" 150lbs :( Hope to gain some weight doing this plus eating much more.

So, we did the first day of P90X and I'm not sore really at all. I figured I didn't "bring it" because I was exhausted yesterday.

So, I'm repeating day 1 tonight :(

Soreness is the worst factor to use and gauge how effective a workout was. I'm one of those people who only feels sore the very first time I do a new exercise. Next time I do the same exercise I can drastically increase the weight and will not feel sore at all. That doesn't mean it wasn't effective.

My wife is in very good shape already but when she is feeling lazy she'll do a P90X. She always says they are very tough.

This is like ANY other program; if you follow it, dedicate yourself, and follow the diet, you'll probably see results. These cookie-cutter programs are made for people who lack dedication, and think that because their newest program came on a DVD they'll magically gain gumption, a spine, and a will.
