Ok, completed my build last night with the following.

P5K Deluxe DDR2
Intel Core 2 Dul E6700
G.Skill 4GB (4x1gb) 4-4-4-12
Thermaltake Matrix VX
Seagate 320GB Sata 3.0
Zalman 9700 NT + Arctic Silver 5
Scyth Silent 120mm fans x2
Hiper HPU 580w
Lite-On 20x DVD Sata
EVGA 8800GTS 320meg
Windows Vista 64bit

Ill post a message about the case in the case forum as I am not really liking it, however too late to return it. The P5K booted on first attempt no problem, only issue is it did not see the DVD drive. I had the HD in Sata 1 and DVD Sata 2. It was not until I moved the DVD to Sata 5 did it read it. Once I saw it, everything installed easy. System and Windows saw all 4GB no problem. Installed Asus chipset drives, downloaded latest drivers for GTS. I have not done any OCing yet and the only stress test I have done so far was, I installed Supreme Commander. I set a skirmish on a large map, 6 players, 1000 units, sandbag(game never ends) and let is run. Everyone is still fighting each other after 12+ hours :) temps are in the 28-31c after all night running.

P5K Deluxe DDR2 - Really like the board and layout, no problems on install other than have to place DVD on Sata 5/6

Intel Core 2 Dul E6700 - Sweet processor, coming from AMD 4200+

G.Skill 4GB (4x1gb) 4-4-4-12 - no problems with board or windows seeing memory, so far no memory errors

Thermaltake Matrix VX - Had to cut part of the plastic that holds all the PCI slots in to fit video card that requires 2 slots, power switch is unstable, would not buy again.

Seagate 320GB Sata 3.0 - love the HD

Zalman 9700 NT + Arctic Silver 5 - Was little worried when I first saw the size of it. Installed with little pain, but fit motherboard no problem. Temps 20-30sC. Cannot believe how quiet it is considering the size. The green LED makes it look like your in alien movie with the lights out.

Scyth Silent 120mm fans x2 - replaced fans that came with case. These are very nice, very quiet.

Hiper HPU 580w - really like the PSU and modular cabling

Lite-On 20x DVD Sata - Its ok, little loud but working good so far

EVGA 8800GTS 320meg - nice upgrade from my 6800U, will upgrade to 8900GTX end of year

Windows Vista 64bit - I an MS fanbio - they keep me employed :) first time using 64bit, so far no problems but only have small amount of software installed.

so far so good. I have pictures, once I can get them hosted Ill post some.

So you like the P5K board huh? No problems other than the SATA recognition issue? I'm looking at one of these for my first build, and it's so new it makes me a tad nervous. Any suggestions?

Looks good. I have the same board with some Crucial Ballistix and couldn't be happier. My only gripe is with the placement of the IDE slot.

Sucks to hear about the poor quality case. I was actually thinking about getting one of those until I saw one at Fry's and saw that it wasn't very good in person.

I like these boards, I mean I haven't tried any, I just like what I see, somewhat at least, just one problem I see here like most of the other motherboard makers.

Everyone seems to think we all need dual PCI-E slots on the higher-end boards. Well people say if you don't need it, don't use it, but don't you also think that if we buy them, then the companies think we need it, that's why they keep making them, or the figure there will be a percentage that does want it, so to keep costs down in stead of making a second board they make a one size fits all solution.

Dual video card gaming at times can be fun, and at other times with drivers and some games can still have issues.

I personally can't stand this mentality anymore, I'm sure over half the people buying these boards don't need dual video, and it would certainly be nice if people wrote these companies and told them to give us some other options instead. I'm sure that possibly that extra PCI slot in it's place might of made a nice addition for some over the extra PCI-E.

I wish they made this board with out the dual slots...

Looks like a really nice system you have there. I plan to build something similar in July. Just trying to decide on whether to go with a E6600 or a Q6600 after the price cuts.

BF04, where did you purchase your P5K deluxe from?

Nice build.
I'm looking at a similar build my self come towards the end of July possibly when the C2Q Q6600 drops in price.
Only thing different would be ram, case, psu and different brand GTS card
The biggest worry that I had was if the a 8800GTS card would cover any of the sata ports.
As for the Themaltake case, yeah, they suck :) .. i personally hate them. some feel cheesy and other i just hate the look

The card does not fully cover the SATA ports, however it does come close on SATA 1. I ran EQ2 on high settings for 15hrs and temps never got above 20c.

I run dual 20inch wide screen Dell LCD so can not do 2 vid cards. I love this PSU, very nice never a problem on the 3 I have ordered.
Going to try and do little OC today.

It was mentioned that you had used Artic Silver with your cpu heat sink, did you replace the thermal compound on the NB & SB with AS5?

I did not use AS5 on the NB or SB, they are stock.

However, I am getting temps in the 40-50c on motherboard. Is that way to high? Due to location of pc my temps will also be little high as ventilation is not very good.

is 50c motherboard something you can live with or cause for major concern?

With my P5W DH, I had motherboard temps floating from 45 to 50, according to Asus tech this is within tolerance. Just the same I had redone the SB & NB and my temps are currently from 35 to 43. An impressive 10 degree drop.
On another forum they had mentioned that ASUS had done a good job with the thermal on the NB & SB in comparison to all of their previous MB.

I figure that I will keep it at stock for now and evaluate.

On my P5B Deluxe I get as high as 47c MB temperature under load (with my 8800GTS overclocked) after a few hours of gaming. This is with my case exhaust fans on low. If I crank them to high I get about 40c MB temp. It is high but within tollerance I think. I attribute it to the video card's heat output. If I just run Orthos and stress the CPU/ram, the MB temp is about 5c lower since the video card is idling.

FYI my 8800GTS idle is 56c/60c (case fans high/low) and max load is 76c/87c on a hot day. That is a lot of extra heat in the case. I'm considering a slot cooler.

I will check bios tonight. However you can see from my pictures of my desk, their is not alot of room for cooling. I am thinking of rigging in 1 or 2 more 120mm fans in the case to get more airflow.

So far though, totally stable no problems on mb or graphics.

I really like Vista also, but that is IMO :)

trOver - thanks, my wife bought me the desk. She said I had to have one that no cables would be showing out the front as it faces the main part of the family room. It was $$ but very nice :)

LOL, Konda - I was little taken back on how big the HS was. However, installation was not a problem and it is cooling very nicely.

I was able to rig a 3rd 120mm in the case to help airflow. I have not checked bios, been to busy drooling over EQ2 as high settings.

I did install my sound card - Creativelabs X-FI XtremeGamer. WoW is all I can say for the sound. I had a cheap Audigy2 card in my old system. I did not think sound would change that much but it really sounds nice. I orignally chose the card for the onboard hookups for the front panel to run headphones/mic and rear speakers at sametime. Everything is working but Creativelabs %^&$ on the manual's on how to setup. I downloaded the latest Vista 64bit drivers and did not use the ones off the CD.
