Duvie, I think that in the context of these articles, he's talking about running a 1.6 at 2.1 on the 533 FSB which the 645DX does very well. I really don't think this article is aimed at anyone that would run the FSB out of spec.

very interesting article here about the lack of information on websites and the abundance of info scattered all over the forums.

looks like overclockers.com also have some plans for all their scattered forum info :D

:)

something doesn't seem right there...
not only does the overclocked processor have a huge speed difference, but it also has a faster fsb...

If you look on Page 5, you'll notice that they're using different video cards for each of the test systems. The Intel 845D system had a Radeon 8500 while the SiS645DX system had a Geforce 4 Ti 4600. That's why the results are a bit wierd.

Pentium 4-1.6A $140
Pentium 4-1.8A $165
Pentium 4-2.0A $190
Pentium 4-2.2 $230
Pentium 4-2.26 $270
Pentium 4-2.4 $360
Pentium 4-2.4B $390
Pentium 4-2.53 $630

"The most natural choice would be the least expensive Northwood processor, which in this case is the 1.6A model. The 1.8A GHz retail boxed is only $15 more"

right off the bat hes got a problem - he cant do simple math ;)

Interesting that they've discovered the same thing.

as mentioned before about the benchmarking what is the point of benching two different chipsets? seems kinda stupid to me...

Yeah, I noticed that. So what's the point of the tests? Are they trying to tell us that overclocking your computer makes it faster? No ***t. Not enough data to be useful...

Now they're at $146 - two price hikes in one day...makes me wonder if they didn't just get their very last shipment of 1.6As and have decided to raise the price a bit since they're so popular.
