P4 2.53 - SL6EV - Possible C1 Stepping?

I just got my new P4 in and was wondering if anyone knew whether or not the SL6EV marking is indeed a C1 stepping cpu. I read about the SL6DW being a C1 stepping, but nothing about SL6EV. I can't test it in wcpuid until I get my r300 in on wednesday. It's not a big deal if it ends up not being a C1, but it would be nice for the OC potential.

Good call. Didn't know intel even listed them. Unfortunately, they don't have my specific marking on their website.

yup...i don't see you s spec on the spec page...weird...maybe it is the c1 stepping and intel has not update their webpage yet

LivinLaVivaPollo: The C1 stepping CPUs are identified as stepping 7 in WCPUID. The older stepping is identified as stepping 4 in WCPUID. Some known facts, though; a reseller I know who recently received a shipment of 2.53GHz CPUs with a pack date of late August are still the older stepping. Most users who have purchased 2.53s have gotten the older stepping as well. The only sure C1 stepping CPUs are 2.66 and 2.8 at this moment.

What you have is an sSpec 2.4B

sSpec Number SL6EU
Processor Frequency 2.40B GHz
CPUID String 0F24h
Package Type FC-PGA2 478-pin
Core Voltage 1.5V
Bus Speed 533 MHz
Thermal Design Power 57.8W
Core Stepping B0
Max Junction Temp 70°C
L2 Cache Size 512K
Die Size 0.13 micron

You just misinterpreted the U for a V hope you didn?t pay more then you should for it.....
The only chips with C1 steppings should all be engineering samples of 2.53, 2.40A, and 2.40B....
(other then the new line of cpu's)

He said he got a 2.533ghz!!! I think he probably got that right....

Good luck...Just test it!! Ocing is a big luck of the draw and who is to say a newer stepping chip may be a dud and yet an older stepping gets you further with this particular chip...

Go straight to 150fsb...if it runs at deafult vcore you should get 3ghz with a raised vcore of around 1.7v max....

here you go. intel's cpu steppings.

if the cpuid 0F27h, exactly as Geekish Thoughts said, then you have a C-1 stepping. but, I doubt it. Since according to the notification, we should expect C-1 steppings to arrive in early Oct.

intel's stepping info in .pdf

Well this post is very familiar to a Taiwanese OC forum posted the same day, about the same time, and over the
same question, about the same misrepresented sSPEC code..... No such code is for CPU's packaged as 2.53's of
any stepping..... I'm just saying I seriously doubt the validity of this claim based on facts..... He may have a 2.53
he may even have a chip with SL6EU, I just don't think they are one in the same....

Hey so did the Taiwanese kid.....

It is a 2.53 SL6EV for sure, unless someone unwrapped it, affixed a counterfeit sticker batch sticker to the box, ripped off the laser etched heat spreader, affixed a new counterfeit heatspreader, sealing the box again with glue, and shrinkwrapping it. :Q Seriously, it is a SL6EV. I've even asked different members of my family and some friends to read it to me. It's not about getting a C1 anymore, it's about getting NuLLxXx to believe me. This is getting ridiculous. I asked for some advice and this guy says I'm lying about a processor marking?!?! Bahaha!

I ran a search for "SL6EV" on google, altavista, and Yahoo! and got absolutely NO results. A search at Intel.com returned 2 results, but they were password protected. Any chance Wingznut PEZ could shed some light on this? Btw, LivinLaVivaPollo, any chance you could take a pic of the CPU marking and post it for us to see?

That's very strange.. almost as if it was an engineering sample or something. But, I highly doubt that..

engineering samples have a s spec codes starting with a Q.....and wcpuid would tell if it is a C1 or BO. how do i kno this??? i have one.....it might identify it as a 2.5GHz cpu though....

I don't have a digital camera, but I can maybe scan the side of the box. I won't be able to run wcpuid on it until wednesday though since I don't have my video card yet. It is an SL6EV though.

I bought it from Essential Computers, essencompu.com . They actually drop shipped from a place called Wintec Industries based in sunnyvale, CA.

does it have 12 tansistors on the bottom of the chip? like this myurl if it does it might be a C1 stepping.....

What voltage does it default to? I understand all C1's should default to 1.525Vcore instead of 1.5V, assuming the BIOS is updated to support C1 chips. If so, the question could be easily answered.

he doesnt have his videocard to test it....y dont u rip out the video card from the PC u are using now and install it to ur new rig??? run wcpu and also see if it OCs good....

It's simple someone posts a vague statement about products everyone knows will soon hit the
street backed by no creditable proof! Maybe Intel has changed sSpec code for a 2.53 to SL6EV???
But IF I was going to post on this subject I would have at least added a link to a pic..... Or maybe
one or two more descriptive words from the box and or chips "laser etching"????

Random C1 pics:
B0 and C1 Compared
Engineering Sample
2.80 Box Label
2.80 Chip Top

Have fun sounds like it should be a awesome rig your building...... I'm building a 2.53 or newer chip
system, plus I know I'll get one of the new ATi cards but only after Nvidia does or doesn?t launch a
new card....

Hold on there dudes.....
I too have a SL6EV 2.53 and am curious to know if its a C1 or not.
I bought it last week in Sydney Australia and the boxed date was I think 15 August (I'll check when I get home).
I had a 2.26 and the transistors on the bottom are quite different from that processor so I was thinking it may be a C1, but yeah, I can't find anything on Intels site about SL6EV so it's a mystery.....

I'll be home in a couple of hours, so tell me what to run, or scan, or whatever and I'll let you know what it is once and for all.

Sorry if I came on too strong null, I'm in the process of moving so providing pictures will be difficult until I can set my scanner and stuff back up. The resistors on the bottom look different from both the C1 and B0 pictured.

It looks like this:

X X - X

It is etched as 1.5 vcore though, so that may be my only lead to it being a B0 and not a C1.
