I'm glad you tested on the 845PE. It will be interesting to see a performance comparison of your 845 and GB @ the same CPU speed, best mem settings on each. I want to how much real world (not Sandra mem bench) performance gain there is going to GB from an 845 rig.

itll only go 170fsb and 1.65v ~ ill have to wait for granite bay to hit 177-180fsb 😉

Considering how high some of todays chips are overclocking, this is dissappointing.
Is the limitation from the 845PE in general or the BE7 in particular?
Didnt some 845E boards like the bd7-2 regularly reach 180 fsb?

I am waiting for Springdale.

Probably going to be renamed Summerdale,😉 Considering how long it's taking GB boards to become readily available.🙁

springdale and its 200fsb will be the death of all our awesome overclocks 🙁

intel is actually making a smart move for a change ~ even us overclockers will NEED to upgrade to keep up :Q

Budman is right!!! summerdale!! I like it....

I also think the granite bay may need to be a pass especially if the 200fsb chips are around the corner and I have seen numerous threads these GB mobos are not ocing very high on te fsb level. Yeah tey would work nicely with my 171fsb but no 200fsb or 227 like thug's p4m...

The next big price cut on Intel CPUs is slated for the 23rd of February, when the Pentium 4 3.0/3.06GHz chippies will drop from $637 to $590. Then, the 2.8GHz CPU will fall from $401 to $375, the 2.6/2.66GHz CPU from $305 to $241, the 2.53/2.5GHz Pentium 4 from $243 to $193, while the Pentium 2.4GHz and the 2.2GHz CPUs will enter the chip gulag.

When Intel launches its Pentium 4 3.20GHz CPU which will support 800MHz system buses, it will cost $637, but here Chipzilla will fork things by selling Pentium 4s in two ways. You will be able to buy bog standard 533MHz bus Pentium 4s at 3.06GHz, for example, at $401. But the 800MHz versions will sell for $417 at launch.

This sounds fun but I think I will wait for the "prescott" chippies to come out before I build another rig.....But on the other hand, my visa wants to play.................isnt tax refunds soon? here I go again!😕

I am not even considering a granite bay board anymore,at 347$ CDN :Q no way in hell I am buying one of those.

Hopefully Springdale will be cheaper & I can get 1 of those new 2.4ghz HT enabled cpus to go with it.🙂

I know,but it's such a hassle shipping from USA to Canada,+exchange rates....

I better wait for Springdale,I am quite happy with my P4B533.

that's 1 hell of a board that we will remember for a while I think,i'll be sad to see it go when I upgrade.
