Where does Onvia ship from? I'd like to know if they use the same warehouse as Egghead, then I can be sure I'll get a cB0, since I'm in NYC.

this 700e is damn great...
I am getting confused myself.

Every fsb that I throw in, it will run
ok.
I tried 150Mhz fsb, chip runs at
1050Mhz @1.65v, log in to windows 2000,
works fine.
Runs sandra, and check the temp on the
chip, it shows 120 F. Hmmm....exit
sandra .....looks at the temp...104 F,
runs cool (I use golden orb btw)

Windows 2000 hasn't crashed for 2 days.
I'm getting worried that it will damage
my other components, so I run it at 980Mhz with
1.65v, I am confused (don't you have to increase
the voltage when you run higher than 1 Ghz ? and temp
doesn't get higher either....
My chip runs fine at 7x150Mhz fsb (1050Mhz) @1.65v, hmm...
maybe I'll try higher later...let me try to crash
the windows...see how high this chip will go)

The chip ships from Addison, IL warehouse.

br0wn: as long at voltages increase, the temp should not run higher than a stock 700. from what i understand, the heat comes from increased resistance inside the chip when the voltage is increased. since you are running the chip at stock voltage, your temps should be low.

one thing you might want to try in decreasing the voltage and see if you can still run over a gig. the lower the voltage, the lower the temperature.

hmm..I can't lower the voltage,
there is no selection on the bios to lower
the voltage (1.65 is the lowest),
but I think I can lower the voltage from
MSI slocket manually (it supports from 1.5v-2.0v);
I haven't try this yet, maybe tomorrow I'll try.

Finally my computer won't post 7x160 (1120 Mhz) @1.65v,
nothing happened here...I have to power down then restart.
At 7x155 (1085Mhz) @1.65v, it will post but then won't
start into windows 2000.
So the last stable is 7x150(1050Mhz) @1.65v, everything
works like charm here, there is no selection between 150 to
155, so I can't try that (this is on asus p3v4x).

I also don't want to increase the voltage, since I only have
1 fan inside my case (FK320ATX) which is the rear fan.
(actually 2 if you count the powersupply fan :)).
Well I am happy with 1050Mhz, and my ram is running at cas 2
(got to love this mosel vitalic rev 2).
The only thing that is slow in my computer is my 56k modem...
hehehehe....

ok...cheers.

NACK,

I'm new to the forum not to pc's, can you tell me how I can obtain the 'coupon' you are talking about on this thread? I am in the process of doing my 3rd home pc and bought the MSI BX Master at Fry's for 119.00 and would like to park a PIII 700 into it. Sounds like you got quite the deal for 201!

Thanks,

tech

techblast,

I used the AMEX $25 off $200 c0upon found at www(dot)slickdeals(dot)com. I also went through www(dot)pointclick(dot)com before ordering and used the 10% reimbursement for onvia. You have to go there early in the morning (I went at 8AM eastern) to get the 10% reimbursement. During those hours you will find that Onvia is listed. Still haven't got the CPU. I am beginning to hope that in addition to getting cbo, I don't get week 20. :)

Nack: I've seen some week 20's doing great, it all just depends on the chip. Over at overclockers someone has aweek 20 from the same batch as mine going almost 1gig air cooled where mine won't do even 910 stable...

Any way to get a CPU routed from a non-fullerton shipping hub while still ordering online to do pointclick?

Also, would Fullerton be the likely hub to WA state? I'm guessing so...

TIA

DaveH: I think Onvia would probably ship from Newark/Fremont to you since that warehouse is located in Northern Cali but you never know...

Based on personal experience I don't think pointclick even checks to see if you have gone through their web site to order, they just check for the confirmation email that you foward to them. You milage may vary!

My question for everyone?

Who hasn't ordered one yet? <- rhetorical question. Man this thread must have be over 400 messages long since I started the 2nd thread 2 weeks ago.

Cool deal huh?

As good as this deal is, I am holding back for 3 reasons.

1. The new cCO stepping is to hit the stores in late Aug.
2. 0.13 micron die to be used in P3s
3. I just don't trust pointclick.

A big reason for buying this cpu is to see whether it hit the 1GHZ mark. There's still a month before school starts. I'll wait :)

/edit a 4th reason is: Dual 1GHZs :)

hmm puts things into a little perspective. I mean it will probably be Christmas time before another game worthy of buying is released. Latest being Diablo 2 which I'm running fine on a 300a @450

Got another week 20 (Philippines) from the Onvia Newark/Fremont warehouse this time and it's going 1022MHZ 1.75V air cooled! I'm using a golden orb on a P3V4X W/Iwill II slotket.... It won't post above 146MHZ.
