This literally happened in America. I forget which fast food place did it back in the day but they were trying to beat McDonalds quarter pounder so they were advertising their 1/3 pound burger but people were so dumb they kept thinking it was less meat. True story.

Keep in mind that the AI models aren't doing any math, just making associations among symbols. 5 and 16 are bigger than 3 and 8 so the answer is obvious.
Yup, you can sometimes get different results by being very specific, like 'mathematically, which is greater' or 'which is a greater portion of 1 on a number scale' or other shit. Never assume AI knows what you mean colloquially, and remember that english is an absolute shit way to deliver information.
