Yeah except Chinese high speed is shoddy and accident prone. Couple that will how China deals with unfavourable news. You get really bad outcomes.

better than doing nothing though, and from that article it seems that Europe has a bigger problem with rail accidents? (at least in terms of highest casualties)
Obviously the Japanese HSR network is the gold standard, but from the article :

As of August 2024, the crash has remained the only serious accident on the Chinese high-speed rail network, which now accounts for two-thirds of the world's total high-speed railways, carries over 2 billion passengers every year and still is undergoing large-scale expansion.

It's going to take a whole lot of convincing to persuade me that only 3% are atheists. Frankly the 33% estimate seems a lot closer to truth. I suspect they are counting a lot of nominals are part of some religion. For example my wife was raised Catholic, me Methodist. I doubt either of us has been to either a Catholic or Methodist church for anything but a funeral, wedding or church dinner in at least 25 years and certainly don't fund those institutions. What do we count as?

I suspect that the vast majority of our friends/associates fit roughly into the same situation as us.
