My how quickly things change. We were living just north of SLC in the early 80's. I remember the flooding turning streets into creeks...people kayaking and fishing in the streets...and by 1984, the Great Salt Lake had flooded part of I-80. (which was built over the objections of many locals who warned that that particular area was prone to flooding in very wet years.)

60F in WI today as well. We've had a mild winter, but this is still highly unusual and as you said, could/will affect growth of flora and insects at the very least.
I have bug smears on my windshield in February, in northern Illinois. This is fine.

It upsets me because I got straight A's in biology and my HS teacher was a freak about parasites. I still eat it crossing my fingers.

Ditto, and...stay away from whitefish like haddock and cod if you don't want parasites. I worked in a meat department and we'd toss a piece of whitefish into vinegar just to watch the worms come squiggling out of it. This was in a Whole Foods store, so it isn't like it was just badly sourced. It's apprently all like that.

I won't eat whitefish of any variety since seeing that. Cooking it will kill them, but they're still there. So nasty.

Stomach acid don't care if you're annelid or fish.

It does apparently care if you're fruit though.
