growing up in the borderlands of VA/NC for some early formative years of my life, the custom was for the adults (us coming from NC, as you do) to unplug/toss discarded shirts over the radar detectors in the cars, about 200 yards before the warning signs popped up and you planted your front wheels across the border crossing.

this was just normal routine, driving to summer lakehouse in the 70s-80s.


I think it's quite a shitload different now, crossing that same area every couple of months

He killed Nazis LONG before he became president....Among his other accomplishments, Ike is the "father of the US Interstate Highway system." (for good or bad), and, in his farewall speech, Ike TRIED to warn us about the Military Industrial Complex that has been raping America.
