A single $10,000 check would help some...but many (most?) would just piss it away, just like most of us did the $1200 checks a few months ago. To make any REAL difference for those out of work, they would have to send out significant checks regularly...even monthly.
Financially the pandemic lock down has been great for me. We are not out 3 - 4 nights a week at breweries, eating out, etc. and it has saved me a lot of money. The $2400 we got was just a bonus, some in savings, the rest spent on stuff we didn't need, but wanted. Stuff like bigger, better TV, 90%+ used for streaming.
And charitable donations, to the humane society where I adopted by dog, and supporting local businesses as best we can. Since March all beer purchases (don't ask, but a bunch) have been drive-by pickups to support local. Food pickups, not as frequent, are from small local only and food trucks.
2020, I've started using the word fuck like a comma, and since I'm not driving, the craft beer consumption has definitely increased. Other benefits, not eating out 3+ times a week, I've lost 20+ pounds.
