This is a simplification of an actual quote from a speech by Lincoln titled ""The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions", known as the Lyceum Address based on the location of its giving.

Not the same quote, this is the quote from Politifact: "Says Abraham Lincoln said, "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we lose our freedoms it will be because we have destroyed ourselves from within." But the meaning is similar, he never said either one.

The context of that speech and those notions on how nations fall went on to educate a lot of his policies as president, so regardless of how 'accurate' it is, it's still relevant today.
