I don't let Trump tell me what the far left is, you should try it.

But how does that relate to the post that started this?

Yes, the far-left can, historically and globally, be pretty murderous. Though I'd say that Stalin, at least, represented a right-ward turn, insofar as he was, despite being Georgian, a hard-core Russian nationalist, and opposed to Lenin on the question of self-determination for national minorities (such as the Ukrainians).

But in the US there is no 'far left' in that sense, other than a vanishingly tiny number of communists.

I'm not sure that we've actually had a (modern) far left society outside of maybe some of the northern European ones, and even those are really just 'America with more taxes and thus better public services'. All the ones that claim to be are/were just fascists, kleptocracies, or boring old dictatorships with a funny sounding name in front of it. Stalin's Russia was about as communist as NK is democratic.

yeah, this is a common mistake made by the history illiterate. Bolshevism was far left--e.g. Lenin and Trotsky. Stalin was something else entirely, and why it's generally referred to as Stalinism. confusing Stalin with Soviet communism (best represented by Kruschev or Lenin, probably, or even moreso Trotsky--but it's not like he was ever Premier) is a common thing among those that want to claim the evils of "the left."

A good sign of whether or not your society is far left is by looking at what the countries leaders live in. If they aren't housing migrants, houseless, or refugees in their equivalent of the white house, it's probably not far left.

Yeah bone spur yet can golf.

When he was in his teens and 20s he played baseball well enough classmates and teachers said he could have gone pro. And the repug before him, Dubya, went AWOL from his choice ANG duty right before it was to be rotated to SE Asia.

Chickenhawk cowardice, revolting as ever. At least Dubya looked up to the troops, wasn't disgusted by the sight of combat wounded veterans and didn't make a habit of insulting KIA. Still a POS with a lot of blood on his hands, though it pales in comparison to Mango Mussolini's covid bodycount.

Remember folks:
