It's very tempting to go full Moonbeam, and wonder what the psychological mechanism is behind this stuff (that, as in this example, just comes out sounding completely insane - the other side are controlling the weather???). I can't tell if it's cold cynical grifting or if there's genuine extreme anxiety behind it. Maybe there's a feeling of 'release' in verbalising these irrational fears, among those who share your overwhelming sense of anxiety about loss of control?

I don't find it impossible to empathise with such paranoid thoughts, just that mine tend to have the reverse polarity (or are about purely personal non-political interactions), and I tend not to let them out in public.

I would think of it like a religion. To imagine there is some entity that controls everything and who determines what happens to you in the afterlife is ridiculous on its face. However it’s purpose is to give meaning and understanding for things that we don’t understand and when you have others who share those beliefs you now have a community for which you have a common ground and something you can bond over. Conspiracy theories are this centuries religion. We all know that the almighty sky god isn’t real but a cabal of powerful Jews with space lasers and a government that controls the weather for political reasons…well that has some truth to it./s

I'm guessing its because he figured they could cut her hair and she could fill in for him while he gets to go have fun. Not like anyone could tell the difference.
She'd only need a one hour lesson on how to fill in for his personality as well. She'd pick up on it within the first five minutes. I'm sure she could teach Mr. Kim a thing or two about being an oppressive asshat, too.

Talk about old money, jeebus chreesto.

Well, joke's on the Pazzi, at least! They would be one of those families, I imagine, and while they are still supremely wealthy, sure, EVERY SINGLE ITALIAN HATES THEM AND THEIR FUCKING NAME! For like, all those fucking centuries. It's even in the language, now--the immortalization of their name as "gullible dumbshit criminal assholes" or something like that....
