That's brilliantly-done, technically (is that an application of some sort of existing 'face-morphing' software, or just a result of very assiduous searching for exactly the right existing photos to cut-and-paste?).

But I don't think it's a great analogy, as the whole point was Murphy's "Valentine" was a street-smart and hyper-articulate hustler with an "instinctive" aptitude for the requirements of his new job (even as I type that I wonder again about the politics of that movie - is it being right-wing or left-wing? Can't work it out). And also who turned out to have a functioning moral compass after all.

I don't get that impression about Walker at all.

I suppose, on that level it fits. I'm entirely over-thinking it. But just dislike that the comparison flatters Walker - Valentine seems like a far smarter and ultimately more morally decent guy. Also it reminded me again how confusing were the morality and poltiics of that movie. (Still more over-thinking)

Umm, what is confising about Trading Places?

Randolph and Mortimer are the only characters who don't have waffling morality and ethics through the course of the movie. They're just jerks all the time. But the other characters do and say entirely uncharacteristic/unexpected things. These weren't due to, "depth of character". It was just plain poor writing (usually for plot assists or humor) imho.

Great movie that I love, but objectively? It wasn't the best writing, heh.

Trying to understand evangelical hypocrisy and hate is a fool's errand though, they actually care for the tenants of their faith about as much as I do. Control and money are the true objects of worship for them, having no shame the true test of piety.
