I'm surprised to see that most techies/programmers I know don't know 'ow to type properly. By that I mean type with the fingers placed in the correct keys.

BTW, I took a typing class in college...

I can type the alphabet really quickly.

abcdefg'ijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

That took about 3 seconds.

You are right! My SO's boss (who owns an IT company) "hunts and pecks" constantly.
We tried installing typing games on his PC but he got all offended.

6 votes against 0? I think my thread might be biased and the results do not reflect the reality.

I thought you weren't coming back here.

Oh, and this.

Why all the hate to the OP? What did he do?

And I can type decently, about 50 to 60 words per minute. I took a typing class in HS, one of a few useful classes in real life <along with communication/writing classes>.

yes. I do indeed know how to type, PLUS, I have a fully functional "h" key on my keyboard.

Do you mean "Do you know HOW to type?" Or are you asking if it's painful to type and I saw 'ow when I'm typing because my fingers hurt?

I type about 100WPM. I type slow on a QWERTY keyboard, but I'm much faster on my Dvorak keyboard. I like blank keyboards the best, because then I can't cheat and "look" at the keys when I'm typing. Are you using a Das Keyboard and you can't find your H key? With the Dvorak layout, it's between the 7 and 8 and down 2. (between B and M, and up 1.) It's between the d and the t horizontally. Good luck finding you H key. Perhaps some day you will achieve your goal of finding your H key.

I type around 80 WPM with very high accuracy but I don't use homerow or other "proper" ways of typing, but I don't look at the keyboard either.

Does this mean I do or don't know "ow" to type?

Edit: Also, DIAF

I was going to buy a Das Keyboard once, but I went for the diNovo from logitech.
