Overclocking barton 2500...

I have a shuttle an35n ultra motherboard w/barton 2500, and buffalo pc3200. I have it overclocked to 2.3 ghz. It is currently at 11x209fsb vcore 1.7. This is my first overclock and I just wanted to make sure that it was alright to be running my ram at 420mhz. The timings on my memory are cas 3-3-3-8. I tryed for 2.4ghz at 12x200mhz and it didnt work. Idk... tell me what you think. Thanks.

Good job so far, nice oc. My 3200 is running at 215 currently at 11 3 2 2 so I'm sure yours can hit atleast 215, if not more. Keep going though...once u hit the ceiling, try moving the ceiling up a little bit

I'll inch it up a bit and see what happens... should I change fsb or multiplier?? fbs 215... or multiplier 11.5?? or does it matter?? Thanks guys. 🙂

From the Prime95 window, click Options -> Torture Test. Then, i suggest leaving it on Blend and clicking OK.

I'd up the FSB as much as your ram will allow you. Then if you reach your RAM's peak, see if you can add another .5 to the multiplier.

i agree.
FSB first, and then the multiplier.

i got my fsb to 225 but failed the prime after a few minutes.
now i'm at 220, failing prime after a couple hours. messing with the voltage now to see if i can get stable.

after that you can be sure i'll be bumping up the multi to 12.

Thanks guys. I'll up my fsb till my ram cat handle it. Would changing my ram timing have any effect on how it handles the extra fsb. The timings are at 3-3-3-8.

^sugarking what kind of votage are you at now?

ran prime95 for 11+ hours.
stable at 220FSB / 8.0 volts
my room was freakin hot when i got home!!
rebooted and checked the cpu temp. it was at 65 degrees.

i suppose i could just keep it at those settings, cos it's not like you ever really run anything at full load for that long. well... maybe xvid encoding, but still... i took the fsb down to 215 / 7.5 volts and now i'm at more normal temperatures at full loads.

once i get a new case with good cooling, i'll probably put it back at 220fsb. that is... unless the 9800pro i'm planning to get starts warming up the whole box.

btw, ditka. don't mess with the timings unless you're a total pro at it. just set the memory settings to aggressive. it'll then auto pick the best settings for you. when you change the fsb, the memory timings have to change with it. it's best not to do those manually.

ok... my ram is already set to aggressive so that should be alright. Just got home from class time to see what i can do.

Thanks again.
