Overclocking 6800gt

i've got a pny 6800gt
the max stable frequency that i've reached out 415/1150
anything higher would lead to crashes in 3dmarks03 after testing for a while
so is that my limit?

Yeah looks like it.. thats pretty good tho. I would loop 3dmark03 for a while to make sure its completely stable. I took my evga to ultra speeds and gained a full 1000 3d marks🙂 I just got an NV Silencer 5 for it so that should stablize it for me.

just wondering.......but would adding NV Silencer 5 help in overclocking further
and how much cooler is your gt after adding the silencer

"i just cant do it captian, I DONT HAVE THE POWER!!!"

sounds like you need more voltage
but dont kill your card and be an ( Y ) and try to RMA it.

if you persue the route of Volt modding/ bios modding/flashing. do a LOT of research first. it is relatively simple and has been done by many. with a daring few pushing their GTs from 1.3 volts to the Ultra Extremes 1.5, with even a few more dual cascade coolers hardmodding another .25 to try and hit 500 on the core.

AS ALWAYS... YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY!

if youre worried about breaking it, DONT DO IT!! you can ALREADY run at ultra speeds with less voltage so be happy. it might not last as long though.... if youre going to OC it to ultra speeds anyway, you should at least bump the voltage to match.

Just be aware that some GTs are experiencing some slow deaths after being pushed to hard. I would really sit back and ask yourself if you really need that extra for anything else than a 3dmark03 bragging score.
