OVERCLOCKERS!! PRICEdROP ALERT on 128MB of Kingmax PC150(Cas2) Memory for $77 (UPDATE!)PRICEDROP! $72 now! :)

he got it there, at his own site...(most likely, doesnt all deal site admins spam their own site??)...
anyways, its at accessmicro.com

How good is memory really? Is it that hot of a deal at this price?
EDIT: Would the lifetime warranty PC133 for 47 be better?

I don't know how much I will be Overclocking the memory, hadn't really ever thought of it.

Topochicho:

This is some of the best memory available today, and it is cas2 (this is a latency issue). If you don't know what cas2 is, basically it's how the memory addresses things and how fast it does it, the lower the cas number, the better. Memory is generally either cas2 or cas3, so cas2 memory is top of the line. Not to mention, this is PC150 memory, as opposed to PC133. That means this memory can run cas2 at 150mhz fsb guaranteed, which can give you a great performance increase. This memory has been tested against crucial, mushkin, and most of the other high-end memory solutions, and has tested the highest from what I have read on a couple of evaluation websites. This definitely can NOT be compared to any ram for $47 a stick. Compare this to mosel vitelic, crucial, or mushkin memory for an appropriate comparison price and value wise. You can get by buying a cheap cd-rom or a cheap nic, but DON'T make the mistake of buying cheap ram, it could be the major bottleneck in your system.

No flames, just a question. Why would you want this RAM unless you can hit the magic 150 FSB or higher. The best I remember the cl is 2,3,2 which would be just a bit slower than say Infineon running cl 2,2,2 up to and maybe beyond 140 FSB.

Very well said divinemartyr! I see people on this forum going crazy for the really cheap ram deals, and have wanted to say "You get what you pay for."

That doesn't seem like the case here though. Maybe I'll pick some up

Frglss,

This is PC150 cas2 memory. It is designed to run at 150mhz fsb at 2,2,2. I have only heard really good things about this memory. Infineon is actually lower quality than Crucial, Mushkin, AND Mosel Vitelic. Really isn't in the 'high end' arena of RAM, but it's definitely better than generic. You simply can't compare apples to oranges, and in this case, this is one of the best prices i've seen on some amazing ram. If I hadn't already spent $208 on a 256 meg stick of crucial (back when it was $260.99 on their website) I would probably be buying this right now. Just go look around for some reviews and performance comparisons of this ram and I guarantee you will be impressed.

Just wanted to let you know, you will definitely be getting a great deal for the money with this RAM. This is seriously one of the top 5 manufacturers of HIGH PERFORMANCE ram you can buy in terms of speed. They don't have as much of a name for themselves yet as Crucial or Mushkin, however, this RAM is great. I know a couple of individuals who own it and have clocked it up to 166mhz fsb!! I don't know of hardly any other ram (with the exception of mosel vitelic) which can go this high, and I believe this ram has been tested up to 158mhz cas2! If you want a great deal on some fast ram, this is your option right now I'd say. Don't pass it up before everyone else jumps on it.

Oh, and welcome aboard! I see you're a new member.

I've got 2 of these, right now they are in my MSI K7Tpro2a and they provide a faster amd more stable system than the buy.com DOD 256 Kingston PC100.

great feedback! thanx for the info....this is definately not one of the cheapass Kingston or AccessMicros PC100/PC133....this is for people who wants FAST stuff.

So is this the
128MB PC-150 Tiny BGA DRAM 168-Pin DIMM
at the access micro site for $79?? tha tyou guys are talking about.
That looks pretty good. If I can sell my current memory I may hop on it.

it is cas2 go to apex's site..the link above you'll see it...he has it in his comp so as many ppl in the forum.

from the above link:

PC150-332 Specification
Maximum Operating Frequency = 150MHz

CAS Latency = 3
RAS to CAS Delay = 3
Precharge Delay = 2

this is CL3 stuff, but i do like the 150MHz. Would be nice for oc'in my 1giger.

This stuff is rated by Kingmax to be 3-3-2, although we all know that manufacturer ratings are most of the time on the conservative side. Most reviewers are finding this stuff will do 2-2-2 at 150 and beyond. I already have 256 meg of Crucial PC133 CAS2 but am considering buying 256 of this stuff....it would apear this stuff rocks. Although with my luck as soon as I get paid tomorrow so I have some cash this stuff will shoot up to $150 a stick.

Here is the link to the Kingmax site which describes it as Cas-3 (3-3-2) at 150 MHz and not Cas-2 (2-2-2).

Kingmax PC150

However, at the bottom of the page are links to reviews of the memory. As a synopsis, the reviewers got it to 141/147/154 MHz @ 2-2-2 before running into their CPUs being the limiting factor. The point is that it is a great piece of memory and that other parts of your system may end up being the limiting factor, not the memory.

Personally, my system (P3V4X) runs fine up to 146 MHz with Crucial PC133 Cas-3, but fails to post after that even with the memory clocked down by -33 MHz. So that means something else limits my system (Maxtor Hard Drive perhaps?). Thus the PC150 really won't help me. But it is a great price.

Does this have trouble with the i815 chipset? i have an asus cusl2 and want to run cas222 at 143 FSB + this possible???
