Ordered 80 gig WD HD per outpost website. URL clearly does NOT SAY OEM drive.
Downloaded 75 dollar outpost rebate
Did all this within rebate specific timeframe.
First they sent an OEM drive. Rebate specifically calls for sticker from retail box; impossible
First lady at outpost customer service told me nothing could be done as I bought an oem drive. She told me to call western digital to see if the rebate would be honored . WD told me the rebate was through outpost and need to speak with outpost.
Second person(call) to outpost I got a knowledgable person Outpost.com 80gig WD drive and rebate IS A SCAM PLEASE READ MY EXPERIENCE
<MFrasca@outpost.com> who told me outpost had had a drive shipment error and that they would send the retail drive immediately. I drove to the post office and sent them back the first one.
Today the SAME F----ng OEM drive came again.
This time Marc told me outpost is unable to send the "correct retail" drive they had promised.
I believe this is clearly "fraud" They get you to order the drive using the rebate as bait then send a different, rebate non applicable drive.
They hope a few suckers will just say hell with it and keep it.
My next step is to share my information/records with the FTC and with the state attorney general in outpost applicable state. Would anyone know which is the correct state? Apparently they have a Ohio, and California address.
Anyone wishing to contact me may do so steve96822@hotmail.com
