I like steak and shrimp about equally. So food genre's aside, which restaurant is better? Is Red Lobster more expensive? I need quick input.

thx dudes

I would say outback is more expensive.

red lobster still doing the all you can eat shrimp? thats the way to go.

and their free rolls are amazing.

I knew a bunch of snooty dickheads would come in and criticize you. The OP didn't ask "Are my dining choices up to your standards?", he asked "which place should I pick for my birthday?"

I hope you have a good birthday, OP.

but whatever you do, don't go to Olive Garden. That place is dreadful, and in no way does it deserve the title of "restaurant" 😛

Thought I would give an update and thanks for the suggestions..
We actually ended up going to The Cheesecake Factory. It was pretty amazing and obviously much better than either outback or red lobster.

are there no locally owned/operated restaurants by people's houses? I just don't get the lure of chain places like these....
each their own though I guess. Glad the OP had a dinner he enjoyed.

Good call ... thats one of my favorite chain-places & a big step up from your original selections.

Wow, lots of hate in this thread. I personally enjoyed eating at both of them. It wasn't the best meal I have ever eaten in my life, but it was still good.

You know, I think Chili's is better than both of them. That restaurant definitely has its place, and I love the ribs, have since I was a kid.

Outback is decent for a chain steakhouse. There was one in my college town, so for the very occasional treat we'd go there, and I'd either get a ribeye or the rack of lamb. I always liked both.

I like food, and I'm pretty serious about eating out (serious = do it as much as I can and try as many new places I can, not snobbery), and these places don't suck. Red Lobster would be below both of them, but if you want seafood, go there. It's not terrible or anything, I'd just rather have a steak 🙂

Enjoy your dinner. A meal isn't about where you are or what's on your plate, it's about the company present. If you don't believe me, get a couple of burgers from McDonalds, a cheap bottle of wine, bring it home, enjoy with someone you care about, and report your findings! It's nice of your gf to take you out even though she isn't loaded. If it's a stretch, go someplace even cheaper, maybe a local dive. Cheap eats and all sorts of atmosphere have become something I really appreciate and seek out more than a much fancier place anymore.

Interesting you would bring that up. I know it depends more on the individual store than the chain, but my family went to eat at Chilis last night and we didnt like any of it. The blossom was stale, the cobb salad was all letuce and wilted, my nephew's jalepeno burger had no taste he said, my wife had a guiltless chicken platter (no taste, but what do you expect), and the chicken fingers my son had were stale and soggy also. The only thing any of us liked was the pasta my other son had...

Very odd, since we've eaten there before and thought it was ok. Maybe the cook (microwave specialist) called in sick that night?

Yeah, Chili's ribs are hit or miss. I've had decent ribs there and I've had horribly dry tastless ribs there. The rest of their menu is pretty much crap too. Oh, and the Awesome Blossom is probably one of the least healthy things you could possibly eat...more like, Awesome Heartattack.

for the same price go here hashhouseagogo.com its on sahara and its seriously delicious. best breakfast but their dinner is pretty good too.

Outback baby
I'm not really into seafood. I only go to Red Lobster as a concession to the people I'm with. Always get the fettucini alfredo. They have tasty biscuits though.

Red Lobster because you can order steak AND lobster. 😀

Also, Red Lobster is typically more expensive but not by a whole lot. On average, it will be about $6 more per plate or so.
