They gave me an okay serverance package that will hold me over for a few months.

And, I have sent 5 resumes off today already.

I had a feeling it was coming (company restructuring & some have been with the company for 15 years was shuffled out the door), and was hopping that I have another job before they laid me off.
 
sorry to hear you got laid off. been there and it sucks. the good news is that the economy is picking up supposedly. If i were you, i'd go on a vacation and collect some unemployment before hitting the payment again. good luck :beer:
 
I was outsourced a few months ago, and now I got an awesome with huge potential.

When I worked for etown the same thing happened to the whole company, on Valentines Day! Didn't stop me from taking a little severance package, since they didn't give us one, and screwed us out of our paychecks that was due the next day.

Anyways, you may have to think about doing something else altogether. I found over the last few years that no one really wants to pay for an experienced sysadmin/dba.
