Thanks for contacing customer support.

Make sure that your cables are correctly connected, and that you do not have the right and left channel switched.

Please note that some songs will have parts that are quiet or where the sound is subdued. This is intentional and by design.

You may also have a bad disc. Try the game on another Wii. If you are getting the same error, then exchange the game at the retailer for another copy of the game.

If you have any other questions, please contact customer support through the website.

None of those replies explain my question. What would audio cables being switched have to do with audio being way too fast or way too slow? The game is mono anyway since you guys forgot to beta test it. The game disc was brand new out of the box and works most often than not. I've seen a few other people with this problem on the net.

Its pretty ironic that their solution to fixing audio problems in a mono game is to switch the audio cables.

That's kinda what I thought lol, my scathing reply was well received :D

He asked me what kind of TV I had next, trying to pin an HDTV problem on me but no avail.

Well, to be fair, if you do have an HDTV, there is more than likely to be some lag due to the scaling. Some are worse than others, up to half a second even. Have you tried to lag calibration in the options? Or is it just periodic lag in certain songs etc?

I don't have an HDTV...

Plus it's not a lag issue, it's intermittent and it's a lot longer than any lag would be, we're talking like 4-5 seconds ahead or behind the song.

Well, sounds like a bug that will hopefully be fixed when they finally get replacement discs out sometime in the next century.

I ejected my copy of GH3 and turned the Wii off and back on.......seems fixed. I played for about an hour or two and everything was cool.

And when I mentioned out of sync audio, I don't mean it was off by a second or two, it was skipping similar as to if you had a skipping CD or even a bad MP3.

Yep, Activision keeps fucking me around with this guy reading a script to me over email. So far he's blamed my Wii, my copy of the game, my television, the way I've connected my audio system and the fact that the game was 'designed to be quiet' in certain parts.

Everything except admit they released a buggy ass hack job of a game. We'll see how many more emails it takes for him to never admit that others are having this problem. He also won't post my problem on their bulletin system... wonder why.

Heh, newest update:

Response (Kirk McNesby) 01/10/2008 10:13 AM
Hi,

What I'm most curious about right now is the details that surround when it starts. Do you have to play a certain number of songs or length of time before it will occur? Are there specific songs that are likely to trigger the issue?

Customer 01/10/2008 04:36 PM
It has happened 3 or 4 times now, most of the time it's right when I boot the game up. One time it happened after about an hour of play time. There are no particular songs that cause the issue nor any set amount of time. Once it begins the audio starts skipping or looping in parts or is stuttery

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/....php?topic_id=26036619

It's obvious a lot of people are seeing this issue, I'm not alone here... seems like a bug in the game that you guys need to address... maybe when you fix the mono sound issue?

Response (Kirk McNesby) 01/10/2008 05:14 PM
Hi,

Nothing like this should be happening within the game. If you are getting these issues regularely you may want to consider contacting Nintendo as there may be something wrong with your Wii itself that is causing it to fail to read quickly enough to keep up with the game.

Customer 01/10/2008 10:27 PM
I realize it shouldn't be happening.. but it looks to me based on my own experience with two different Wii's, two copies of the game (my friend and I bought them at the same time) to see this on 2 different TV's and then discover with a 2 second google search that there are others with this same exact issue, it seems a little unlikely that the problem lies with the hardware.

Others in that thread claim they've reported the issue to support as well, is this the first you've ever heard of this problem?

New update... looks like it may be about time to send this to something like the consumerist depending on his answer this time.

Customer 01/11/2008 02:51 PM
So do you have any other suggestions other than replace the game? Can you put this up on your bulletin board?

Response (Kirk McNesby) 01/11/2008 03:00 PM
Hi,

Replace the game or repair the Wii, since the issue is happening on more than one disc it is likely something with the system itself.

Customer 01/12/2008 03:08 PM
From the Guitar Hero message board:

" I have the same problem! I like pushing the whammy bar on long notes when this happens, it makes it sound so wierd since you can make it change like 5 notes in a row opposed to one."

"well I have the same problem just not to the extent of utkanos. I will be playing a song and then it starts getting glitchy and twichy. I just restart the song and normally it stops. So for the remastered disks, we have to send the old ones in and they send a new one??? I mean how long is that going to take. They have sold a $hit load of wii disks so it is going to be a long wait, wtf. "

"i got this... usually happens when i switch from my 23" sony tv that is older then i am to our 52" HDTV"

"I get a problem, every so often, where a song will skip in the begginning and then be completely out of sync for the rest of the tune (including the notes that I hit!). Restarting the song fixes this, but it has happened a few too many times to just pass it off as a fluke. I have the Wii version."

This is 4 people with the same problem replying in less than 24 hours.. I don't know how to make it more clear that there is nothing wrong with my setup and there is a bug in your game. If it was just me then I could understand that but honestly, tell me with a straight face that these 4 people in addition to the 3 from the other forum I linked you plus the two copies and two different wii's I've personally seen this happen on is all problems on our end.

????????

Response (Kirk McNesby) 01/14/2008 03:05 PM
Hi,

This title sold very well for the Wii. It is not surprising that you can find some others experiencing the same issues. This unfortunately lends no credence to the idea that is the game itself causing the issue and not a hardware based problem. There is a popular phrase that scientists and statisticians use that affects this situation "Correlation does not imply causation".

Customer 01/14/2008 04:29 PM
Just because it sold well doesn't mean there are no bugs in it. Did you forget you shipped this game with mono only sound? So Activision is basically not going to acknowledge that there COULD be an issue that is in the game (as you said yourself it's hard to determine if 10+ random people across the country all have bad wii's yet their other games play fine) and attempt to look into the problem? Is that the statement you're making here?

What incentive do I have as a customer to provide repeat business to your company at this point if you're not even going to entertain the possibility that this could be your fault or even offer any sort of helpful advice whatsoever except hoping the problem (me the consumer) will go away?

Good to know you stand behind your products.

As far as having a hardware issue with the DVD drive. I had my DVD-drive replaced a few weeks back (it started clicking while reading discs). When I ran accross the out of sync sound issue it was about 2 weeks after getting the new drive installed. I never had an issue with the audio using the old clicking drive.
