:( Just a string of bad luck, everytime I've checked in the past 2 weeks, they've been sold-out. One of these days maybe, I'll nab them. :)

I've missed every "in stock" milisecond too! I want 2, one for me and one for the parents!

Can somebody suggest the best of those "URL Watchers" programs that email or page you when the page changes?

I remember using one long ago to grab that nice HP laptop at Walmart.com last year (still using it, satisfied) but forgot which proggys are best. I'm sure you AT HotDeal grabbers know.

Thanks - hope I get a frame...

I've got an extra. I got a decent price for it off of eBay before they came back into stock at compgeeks. It's yours for my purchase price plus shipping.

I too would be interested in a good URL watching program for these kinds of deals. Do any exist for W2K?

Does anyone know how the picture quality of this frame compares to the Ceiva frame? I like how the Ceiva one is so big, but too bad it's network only. Anyone own both?

The Ceiva (after reading the stuff on Amazon) is clearly passive matrix,
while the Kodak is active matrix (TFT). Passive matrix sux, and means
you need to view straight on to see the picture. The resolutions of the
screens are the same. So the Kodak HAS to have a better picture.

Given that they're the same price, and with the Ceiva you are
tied to a service that may go belly up at any time, I can't see any
reason to buy the Ceiva. (I mean, the service is a novel thing, but
if they go out of business--and everyone in this market sector seems
to be going out of business--you have an expensive paperweight).

1465 units in stock. They must be getting regular shipment of this. I'll see how I like the 2 I purchase before getting anymore.

I'm with Kwad all the way with regards to the Ceiva vs Kodak comparison...there is *no* comparison. I've seen them both.

If any of you fence-sitters :) have any far-flung relatives, these are absolutely wonderful gifts...we bought several and I've loaded them up with pictures of the kids....given that you can get 8 MB CF cards for very little I plan on sending the recipients "update" cards from time to time.

And yup....now I have one sitting on my desk at work...makes me smile all day long.

One of the best Hot Deals in a long time...

Hey!

I just got mine in the mail today. It is the networked version. Is this the one everyone is getting? If so, how do I use it? As soon as I try and set the slide show, it tells me to register it.

Thanks!

the network isn't there anymore. So it wont work i'm afraid. see storybook.com (what's left of it)

-edit:

-no I got the Non-networked version.

like i said earlier, I think they are all the same guts anyway. Maybe a batch of them were the older networked ones?

As an aside:

What are the hottest deals on
A) 8 or 16Mb compactflash cards
B) a USB compactflash card reader/writer?

Gonna need to send those with my frames!

Apparently CompGeeks is completely surprised I got a networked version of the product. They will call me later.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get it to work normally?

Hacking would be much more difficult then simply exchanging it. NOBODY got the networked version except you, so I don't see any problems with them helping you out.

I too would like deals for 8MB cards please. I need one presto.
