Anyone know of a hot deal on a combo CompactFlash/Smartmedia USB
reader? Looks like I'll need a couple to send off with the digital
picture frames...

Homerboy - You are absolutely correct. I wonder what the difference is between the two links? I guess one is for a page only I can see right? As for someone, yeah a friend. A female friend. I didn't say girlfriend mind you. Just a good friend. *grin*

KWAD - I went to CrapUSA yesterday and they had no less than five different readers. I would personally recommend the ZIO! Compactflash reader. They have $10 rebates on all three models I saw: CF, Memory Stick, SD/MMC. I think they have a SmartMedia version too. They come with the reader which plugs into the USB port, and it also has a wire just in case your usb port i unreachable. The wire acts like an extension. I have one in front of me that I use. That's actually a pretty good idea to send it out with your frames, to make the present complete and all. But it also turns it into a costlier present. You think a girl would mind getting one with a UPC cut out?

I had bought one with the DamnIt voice recorder free with coupon. I don't know what they are but those recorders are $55.24 on SALE at Target at Link! Wooow, I must have had a great deal.

It just came back up as in-stock!

Looks like a swell holiday gift! :)

Here's a review of the networked version (this one is free-standing) but it gives you a nice idea of the product: Imaging-Resource Review

SWEET!

Can I ask stupid question #2?
How do I get my pictured from my PC to the on-board 8Mb memory? Or is that 8mb only on the netowrked versions?

(and anyone got a good deal on a USB Compact Flash Card? =))

They only have ten (TEN; 10) left. If previous sales are
any indication, that means you have about 5 minutes left to buy
one...FWIW.

Just got mine frame in today. Worth every penny. Only thing I didn't like is the bulky power supply. I wish it could be battery operated.

Just got mine today and am starting to play with it, but I'm having a problem.

I use Photoshop to scan in my images, as well as to touch up images from my digital camera. When I load them into the frame as JPEGs, the pictures will display, but there is no thumbnail version of the picture available in the menus. This makes the frame extremely difficult to use.

Kodak's website says that this is because Photoshop does not save the "proper EXIF information" and suggests loading the pics directly from a digital camera. Having to do this would make the frame a lot less useful to me.

It looks like upgrading to Photoshop 6 will allow me to retain EXIF info while editing the pictures I take with my digicam, but is there any way I can ADD EXIF thumbnails to images from other sources (e.g. scanned images)?

Homerboy,

Just call up CompGeeks after adding your shipping address to your credit card institution's list. Usually, your stock allocation is still held.

Back again. Just got mine. - 6PM ET

If anybody doesn't get one, I picked one up on ebay tonight because I was worried about them not coming back into stock. Now I have an extra that I'm willing to part with for what I paid for it so PM me or email me if you want it.

homeboy, i had the exact same thing happen to me. i just corrected the problem, called compgeeks and asked for them to re-verify the payment, and they shipped it out the next day. i asked whether i would have a problem getting the frame since they were sold out according to their website, and the rep said my frame would be on hold in inventory so there wouldn't be any problem. she was right. ups says i'll be getting the frame tomorrow.

Do a simple search on www.google.com for "add exif" and you will find plenty of hits. Not too hard.
