Check out the Kodak site for their FAQ on this thing. Briefly:

1) No CF comes with it.
2) But, if you leave your CF card in it, you can use the storage on it in addition to the internal memory. To quote:

<< How many pictures can I display on my Non-Networked KODAK Smart Picture Frame?
The Non-Networked KODAK Smart Picture Frame stores up to 36 VGA (640 x 480) pictures in the JPEG (.jpg) file format. If higher resolution pictures are displayed on the Frame, they are compressed to 640 x 480. If you have a COMPACTFLASH Card inserted in the Frame, you can potentially display hundreds of pictures depending on the COMPACTFLASH Card's capacity. The COMPACTFLASH Card provides the additional storage capacity. It does not affect the Frame's storage capacity.

Pictures being displayed from a COMPACTFLASH Card appear after the pictures stored on the Non-Networked KODAK Smart Picture Frame in slide show mode. You can choose whether or not these pictures are displayed with a "CF" icon in the bottom right corner by accessing the Advanced/Set CF Card Icon Display menu option.

Heres the answer to a few questions:

Modem has not been removed ( but when you use the share or channel buttons it says not network enabled)

I have used a 320mb compact flash 4000+ pics ( it seems limitless )

no cf card included

no battery operation

the only reason you would ever need the networked version is if you did not know what a compactflash card was. Even then it doesn't matter because there is no Storybox network anymore.

For those that already have one from compgeeks:

ok... so the way it comes, it is useless without a CF card, as there is no way to put images on the internal memory (as modem is disabled).

Or can you transfer images from the CF card to the internal memory?!

I just need to know so I can get some CF to include with this as a gift if needed.

edit:

VaG answered that for me, you CAN transfer images from a CF onto the internal memory, so that makes it a little better.

I think this is much better than the Kensington ones (and I own 2 of them). The finish on the frame is of a better quality and it looks like the resolution is double that of the Kensington. No crappy proprietary software either.... I ordered 5 of them.

Arg! :|

Put two in cart. Decided to check and see if there was anything else I wanted while I was paying for shipping. Low and behold they changed it to a Geek Special. No more 10% off!!!

I'm always teasing my wife because she's constantly buying picture frames that we never use. This is a perfect Christmas present. Thanks.

For those of you buying plenty to give away as gifts. Are you guys rich or are these gifts going to important/close people? I mean that's why I bought mine but I am reconsidering it. It's for a (girl) friend. But $115 (tax and shipping) is a huge gift!

VaG and gof,

Thanks for the info. I don't know how I missed those FAQ's the first time. I must have been out of it.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification. Heck, all I wanted to put in there is a 64 Meg card. This thing is perfect! :D

That might be how you missed it. They were not there the other day when I looked.

Damn! That's NUTS!

There's only 468 as of 7:33 PM EST.

You KNOW that dealers are buying these by the truckload. DAMN!

They've gone through, what?....1,000 of them since I posted this at 2:50....

Think about it.....$100,000 of product sold in just over four and a half hours.

To find out how many are in stock, enter something absurd like 5000 in the quantity box. They don't have that many, but they will show you what their on-line system shows as in-stock.

SteveNYC,

Not to be corny, but thank you so much for posting this!! I have a sick relative out West and I had wanted to buy her one last time but hesitated and missed out. I've been kicking myself ever since :(.

I'm really thrilled!

Thanks,

fraz (also in NY)

I'm not rich. I just think it's a great value and know I can eBay any of the 5 I don't want for at least a break-even price. All 3 of my Kensington's are going back now... =)
