But, but there are no politics involved in this "national tragedy".

It's a tragedy for sure, every death of an innocent is no matter what the cause. Does it rise to the lewvel of a "national" tragedy? Maybe, but not enough to have a prime time presidential speech. That's just political posturing by the Dems.

Disagree. It involved a federal judge and member of congress. It was also likely motivated by national political issues. If Obama wasn't there giving a speech at the memorial, the same asshats would be screeching about him not "caring enough to be involved".

Is that really the best you can do? Stay classy.

Is that the best you can do? Respond only to the most poorly-written replies and ignore the rest? Don't you profress to a Christian? Aren't you suppose to hold yourself to a higher standard or some such thing?

Yes, silly me: I expect the president to do his job rather than spend his time pandering for votes. He wouldn't have to spend his time pandering if he was at all worried about doing what his constituency elected him to do. You think pandering is ok because he spent a few million flying out there on Air Force One with a Secret Service entourage and fighter escort. The better question is: when did this become the job description of the president? You think I'm a partisan simply because I'm calling out the stupidity of the current administration, but I'm just as willing to point out that Bush was at least as stupid as Obama. I have no political affiliation because I think members of both parties are idiots. You, on the other hand, are obviously an apologist who came in hear to support Obama's stupidity because you're infatuated with him.

If you could ever get it through your head that anyone who disagrees isn't automatically an "apologist" or an "idiot", you might be taken seriously.

For now...you sound like hot burning irrationality on a stick.

Actually it is his job, as President he is supposed to rise above party and be leader of the entire country, Republican, Democrat, Independent or any other faction you can think of. Presidents have always delivered addresses after tragic events, including one of the most memorable ones ever delivered which begins "Four scrore and seven years ago...". In case you think this is some kind of partisan hackery on my part there is very little Democrats or Obama do that I agree with but he is still President of the entire United States and entitled to deliver a speech anytime an event such as this occurs.
You realize that Lincoln was acting as Commander-in-Chief while rendering the Gettysburg Address, right? Is Obama in the middle of a declared war against random gunmen in Arizona? For what military cause is he rallying support? What do you mean, "An event such as this?" Every time a shooting occurs? A mass shooting? A shooting involving a politician? A shooting involving a Democrat? An event which generates substantial media attention which he desperately needs to improve his waning image? He's entitled to give a speech any time he wants for no reason whatsoever, just as I am entitled to criticize him for doing so. In general, I support politicians doing their jobs rather than spending time on pandering.

Hey now, I resemble that remark😱

If you haven't figured it out yet, any well thought out rebuke of his argument is just going to be dismissed by him. So go ahead, waste your time trying to convince him he's wrong, he isn't having any of it.

Well at least according to you, Cyclehblowhard and some other partisan hacks

It's clear to me that the Dems have pulled all the strings they can to blow this incident out of proportion and why they have decided to blow it out of proportion.

To me a national tragedy is more along the lines of Pearl Harbor, the marine barracks, 9/11, the lies used to convince us to invade Iraq, or even the number of people needlessly dying every single day due to lack of basic health care.

It was some nut going after someone he apprently hated. I don't see how it's any different then any other nut who decides to shoot people? Hell, the judge just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He wasn't intenionally targeted AFAIK?

How is pearl harbor, beirut boming, challanger accident, colombine or 9/11 any different than what took place in Tucson?

Yeah I don't know what is the watermark for deciding if something is a National Tragedy or not, glad you do.

You're an admin, how is this behavior tolerated?

But... he IS an apologist. By definition. "Apologist" isn't some dirty word, as many people deserve defending. However, blindly defending someone simply because he has the same letter after his name on the ballot as you do on your voter registration card is idiotic. If you don't want to be labeled an idiot, don't behave in an idiotic fashion. See how this works?

How do you know? You haven't even made an argument or even addressed my premise in a cursory fashion. Tab is the only person still on my ignore list because he would actually argue that 4==5 if a non-Democrat argued that 4==4.

Yep.

Yes, it's tragic that people were gunned down and the congresswoman was shot but the media and politicos have blown this WAY out of proportion. "national healing"? WTF? There is no national tragedy here.

i agree with this. i see flags at half staff all over town and the news talking about how its a national tragedy. I don't see how it is a national tragedy at all, and if a congress woman wasn't shot there would be no fan fare, no speeches, no tee-shirts. no proposed bill to ban firearms 1,000 feet from elected officials... 6 people were killed but all the fucking news talks about is Gabby, i swear the news media is trying to turn this into Obama's 9/11. tragic event yes, national tragedy no.

LOL, so you have no opinion about what is or isn't a national tragedu? Curious that you are so keen to be arguing about it then. 😀 😉

the shooter had no idea the judge was going to be there. the judge stopped by the safeway on his way home from mass to meet his representative. its not like the judge walked in wearing his black robe and had a gavel in his hand. the nutjob shooter just wanted to kill as many as he could.

No, that was simply your perception of it. Which you need to examine.

In case you just arrived, this is all about your interpretation of events and how most of the Free World disagrees with your narrow view of leadership.

Calling everyone who disagrees with you "partisan" or an "idiot" does not help your argument.

Well I thought this was but you and Cycle are telling me it's not so I don't know what the level a tragedy must achieve to be considered a national tragedy.

You are as delusional as you are ignorant. Or maybe it's cynical....I can't quite tell. But definitely ignorant.

In all this time you've participated here in P&N I've never once seen you concede that you were wrong, not once. I don't expect that to happen in this instance.

Uh, really?

Why did he hate her? I'm sure it was because he cut her off in traffic and not some policy she had a specific view on that he disagreed with. The difference is that the reason for the shooting was political in nature, and federal officials were killed/seriously wounded. This isn't just Bob Smith of Nowhereville was shot in a store robbery.

Again, it is not up to someone like you to decide the level of tragedy that the nation is feeling.

All you really can do is show the rest of us how ignorant and insensitive you truly are.

Great! So now its just a measly member of congress that was targeted and gunned down. What's the excuse/rationale for why that is any less of a national issue?

Apparently you read very selectively. Can you show me an instance where you admitted you were wrong? How about one where I was demonstrably incorrect and didn't admit it?

Oh I've admitted that I was wrong on a few occasions. Regarding finding one where you were wrong, I'm not going to bother, you'd just deny that you were wrong like you always do.
