...Is giving a fine speech right now.

Our President, our duly elected leader, is rising to the occasion and addressing every one of us with dignity and quiet, inclusive, healing eloquence.

Thank you, Mr. President.

Maybe in the spirit of the Presidents speech we should lock all the AZ shooting, Giffords and Palin threads and start over Thurs.

Partly to thank the president for coming to our city to help us deal with this nightmare?

Are you normally this clueless, or are you role-playing tonight?

Nah, normally on "role-playing" night, he's dressed up as Hello Kitty...

Chill out dude, ease off your rhetoric and vitriol. I expect a round of applause when the President comes out on stage and all the proper respects, but what's the deal with people cheering throughout the ceremony? And at the end after he was offering condolences? It was a little weird.

seconded...I think the original thread has been derailed enough times to put amtrack out of business...

I felt the audience carrying on like they did was a little much given the circumstances as well. But that's squarely on them, the speech was great and a prime example of how a leader should lead at a time like this.

They were acknowledging the heroes and the survivors. Nothing wrong with it. But I agree it should have been more focused on the dead.

He's the duly elected head of the executive branch, entrusted with enforcing the laws. I don't see anywhere in his job description where he is supposed to fly around the country on my dime giving motivational speeches. If he was doing the rest of his job well, I wouldn't be too worried about this nonsense, but instead he (and all other recent presidents) use events like this to distract from his woeful inadequacy at doing his real job.
