I don't know why, but that's the funniest thing I've heard in weeks.

Well, I've decided to put her on a diet and see if that helps. Then again, other people I've talked to have cats that are much fatter that don't have this problem....

We too have some fat ass cats (but they don't leave butt streaks). We're using some diet cat food and we'll see if it's working or next in the next week or so when we have to go to the vet.

i have two cats and have the same problem with the younger one - he's a complete fatass and can't lick his butt. it's completely disgusting. personally i'd love nothing more than to get rid of both of 'em, i don't really enjoy having my expensive and nice house being turned into a giant litter box! but the wife and kids will never let me do this. problem is, we can't cut back on food for the fatso cause he steals food from the other cat, who is old and weak. if we put less food out she'd starve - which would be fine with me - but not really an option. i'll tell you what, tho, this whole experience has turned me off of pets completely. when this fatso dies (which will probably be 15+ years from now, we'll have had cats for 25 years by then), i've already told me wife i have earned at least 20 years of pet-free living!

You can take the cat out of the alley...

/Another reason not to want a cat.

//That said, Our dog does this (butt slide). The first time I had her checked at the vet and ruling out other things (like worms mentioned in OP), apparently her anal sacs aren't emptying completely. Linkage I pay the vet to do this... ugh.
