OT: Prayer request for my son...

I know some of you know that my son has had some serious medical issues over the past couple of years. Well, lately things have gotten a bit worse for him. Since the beginning of June, he has been hospitalized for 27 days. The symptoms have run the gamut from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Colitis) to Meningitis. In the past week alone he's been through a colonoscopy and a spinal tap (we're still waiting on results of the latter). He is 7 years old, and just in the past couple of months has lost even more weight....4 pounds from 40, that's 10% of his body weight. Like we needed any more reason for concern.

Why do I run DC? He is why. I'm sure I'm going to be even more scarce on this board over the next week or two at least, but any thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated, even if I miss a few thank you's.

Sorry for the rambling, but a few hours of sleep over several days does that to you when you get to be my age. Or at least when you get to feel as old as I feel right now.

As someone who just had three family members fight through life threatening medical conditions (all at the same time!), I certainly appreciate and in no way underestimate the power of prayer.

May God grant your son, you and your family strength during these difficult times!

The thoughts and prayers from my family are with you and yours. :brokenheart:

Sorry to hear that... Medical stuff is never fun to go through, especially when it involves the children. I hope he bounces back soon--keep us updated when you get the chance.

EDIT: Oh, and there is absolutely no need to apologize for rambling on here. That's the best thing about things around here in the DC side of the forums--you are amongst friends.

Sorry to hear about his continuing health problems. All the best to him and the rest of the family.

Sorry to hear about your sons poor health recently 🙁 ,I hope he pulls through quickly.
My thoughts are with you:brokenheart:

Not sure how I'd react to either of my boys having those serious illnesses. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thanks everyone. Well, the Tap showed Meningitis. So far, it looks like it's viral, which is the "good" kind to have. We're still waiting on one test, but at least it looks relatively promising that he'll be home for the weekend. It'll still take him some weeks to fully recover, but at least with viral Meningitis, there usually aren't any long term physical or neurological problems to deal with. Now, if we can just get the rest under control...

Even though I haven't posted until now, I've been keeping your son and you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. And will continue to do so. I'm glad they were finally able to make a diagnosis so he can get treated and get well!

Glad to hear the good news. I was personally afraid of the "we don't know" answer (I'm familiar with that one), but I'm exceptionally glad to hear that isn't the case.

My prayers are with him and you. He ALSO is the reason I fold. People ask why I have 12 computers, and why I do this. At least some understand.
