OT: How/why did you choose your handle name.

I chose RAYSUN2BE for a number of quite boring reasons.

1. Ray is my middle name
2. Raysun2be can sound like Reason To Be, ties in with my quest of self discovery.
3. It can sound like Racing To Be (I've always liked to go fast, used to have a '66 Chevelle SS 396)
4. And at the time, I was rebuilding my relationship with my father, so also Ray, Son To Be seemed to fit.

My gaming handle is usually Gimpy, 'cause that's about the way I play.

zodder has pretty much been my nickname since I was a kid. Posato>Posatter>zodder, I guess. It's my name on every forum I frequent. If I couldn't use zodder, I guess I'd go with "suedehead". That's my online gaming name. If you're into Morrissey at all, you obviously know where that comes from.

When I went to my first lan party I needed a handle and I came up with Tarca. It works most anywhere for a username. One time I was pissed off that I could not use my name at a website registration... How dare someone use my handle!!!!:| Then I realized I had registered at the site some time ago!!! LOL


Now most of my friends call me Tarca instead of Tom.

So if you see Tarca in a game some where it most likly will be me!

My password book was was toast and I couldnt have my passwords emailed to me.
Contacting the sites didnt help so I just started over.
My name is Richard Winters so I used "winr".

Oh yeah my nick! ,well I'm a big Star Trek fan ,especially like The Borg ,so you can see where my Nick came from.
In the very early forum days at Toms & Sharkeys I used markpd ,but I wanted something a little better when I moved to Anandtechs forums ,I think thats where I 1st used Assim1 ,though I 1st actually used it for ICQ.As for the number '1' ,Assimilator & The Assimilator were already registered here.
I use Assim1 for virtually all forums ,you'll see me nearly everywhere if you dig around.Only place I don't use Assim1 is in Napster (RIP) & Kazaa lite where I am Locutus1.:evil:

Well...wanted a short domain name for my own business (hated the sound of like Turner Consulting) so I took the 1st 3 letters of consulting and was playing w/variations of the 1st 3 letters of my 1st and last names and came up with conjur.



Other places I'm NightowlKY as Nightowl was my handle on the old mini/mainframes at UofL and...well...I'm from KY.

I guess mine dates back from playing the old online games - Doom & Quake.
Sometimes I would get to play on a T3, so I was one of the original LPB's (low ping bastards).
My character would speed around so fast it was like I was walking among frozen motionless enemies, of course it was easy to pick them off & to them I looked like I was just "wizzing" past them.
So I started using the handle Wiz while playing.
Oh, also my computer was named Wizzard - hey you gotta name these things right?
So I was the Wiz operating the computer named Wizzard
Oh, and some people called me that when they wanted me to fix their computers.
It all seems like magic to the 'commoners', "how does the fancy metal box do all those neat tricks???"
and "How does that guy know what to type in to make it work again after it gets sick???"

Oh - I just remembered I was using Wiz even before that!!!

Back in 1980 or thereabouts I used to play this game on a mainframe. It was called Adventure.
I am an Adventure Grand Master, I still keep the laminated green & white striped printer paper with the secret to the final maze of twisty little passages in my wallet - you never know when you might need it.

This is a no brainer.

I've been shaving my head since I was about 12 years old (22 now). At first I had an email address that was Baldy17@goplay.com and then I turned 18 so I changed it to Baldy18. By the time I turned 19 I had too mail online accounts to change them all so I decided to live everyone's dream and be 18 forever.

Unfortunetely Baldy18 was taken on AIM and Ebay so on those I use my last name, Weldy, and the year I graduated high school '99, Weldy99. Maybe I should check and see if Baldy18 has become availible on those two yet.
