Mine was the oldie but goodie that every user name was taken. Everything I tried simply did not work.
Back when Red Hat 4.1 came out I started messing with but needed a lot of help. So I subscribed the the Alaska Linux Users Group ( http://www.aklug.org ) and somebody had a signature with something along the lines of Morpheous, the Sinful_Weeper.

So I tried out Sinful_Weeper everywhere I went and it worked... with the exception of FuseTalk web sites which do not allow underscores, so I had to use SinfulWeeper for those.
I must admit my handle name makes it sometimes difficult to do trades though

So whats your story?

Well... sometime after I was born - My mother and father named me "Craig."

Hence - nothing

My last name begins with "D"

Concatenation... JetBlack69 has nothing to do with my name.

;)

I got JetBlack69 after going to my 2nd lan party. When I went to my first, I didn't have a nickname. When I was driving to the second, a neighbor was tarring their driveway and the sign on the truck said JetBlack. Well, I normally wear black jeans and a black band t-shirt, so I picked that name. I added the 69 because it looks like a yin-yang, I kill someone at Quake, they kill me at Quake.

Long ago I was playing guitar in a heavy metal band and decided I wanted to add some "funk" to our sound. Told everyone that we needed Mo-Funk (more funk) So we made a song called MoFunk - Mo Fatta, Mo Betta. Changed our sound forever! And my handle was born.

dxkj

unique, short, meaningless

I used to draw and doodle in science class because I knew more than the teacher and was bored out of my mind

d x k j can be formed using a series of straight lines or diaganol lines. I guess it appealed asthetically to me and was something to draw. First email address I ever made I couldnt think of anything so i used what i saw drawn on my binder dxkj... been using it since (that was about 7-8yrs ago)

I was touring with a drum and bugle corps (contrabass:music: ) and managed to break all of the fingers on my right hand in the early part of the season, but I never quit. My drum core nickname was born. I registered for the forums not too long after I left Tarheel Sun.:sun:

Well... sometime after I was born - My mother and father named me "Garry."

Hence - sweet fa

My last name begins with "M"

Concatenation... Absolutely nothing to do with my name

Back in about 97/98 (whenever the original Unreal came out), I was playing that online a lot, but couldn't think of a decent name (my previous nick was "Mitchell47", my surname plus my house number) and I needed something new. I was talking to one of my friends on MSN Messenger, and we were throwing ideas around, and I said to him "Oh, I'm so confused!", and he then said "that's it, call yourself Confused". So I did :)

Some of you may remember that when I first came here, and until just over a year ago, I was ConfusedBW. The BW bit came when I was signing up here, and Confused was taken. At that time (and the reason I was told about this place) was that myself and a couple of friends were starting to do our own "hardware review site" and one of the others pointed me here. The name we came up with for the site....Broken Windows. Quite ingenious if I do say so myself ;) Anyway, for a good couple of years, I stuck with ConfusedBW, but as I had dropped the BW bit on everything else, I did a search here for the original Confused, and they had posted 3 times, and the last time they visited was over 2 and a half years ago, so I PM'd the Mods, and asked if they could change it, as it was pretty obvious that they weren't coming back :)

Most other sites, I am Confused as well (but i rarely visit others), or if not, then ConfusedTA, TA being Team Anandtech, of course :)

And that is the story of how I became Confused! :)

I used to go online to the local BBS's and use the name Sorcerer. I still use that name in many places, and in games. Here, I wanted to be recognized by my name AND the sorcerer thingy, but Bob the Sorcerer didn't sound as good as Bob the Wizard, so there you go....

Hm. Mine comes from Unreal Tournament. Back then I got to know some ppl from arround the world and we were looking to found a UT clan but none like these "bone crushers" or "super soldiers". So we became the "MountainCows", because it just sounded stupid and funny :) Since then we play together (like America's Army today) and we still stick to our old names = BlackMountainCow (the others r blue, purple, yellow and pink) ;)

That's near where I grew up on Long Island.

Mine is first initial David and last name McOwen so the dmcowen, I wrote somewhere in here before how the 674 came about. Back on Long Island during the 1970's CB Radio heyday my Dad and I had Radio Club numbers of 636 and 674. When he would leave from work and get on the radio I could hear him easier through the static because of the number until he got closer in range and clear.

once opon a time my parents named me lobadoba, I liked to eat dingdong's for breakfast...the rest is history.....

just kidding, I heard the name lamaramashimsham (the name of some jin and the lamp era bad guy) in some obscure black and white movie sometime years ago, and at the time was trying to get a hotmail account to check my e-mail from school. couldn't get anything to work even lamaramashimsham was taken :Q so I toyed with it and lobadobadingdong was born. And it looks like I've been copycatted too, someone on yahoo stole my name, didn't know this until I tried to get yahoo messenger a few months back.

"Strength 18, Intelligence 3." From Dungeons and Dragons. I only have been using it for a few months. I wanted to post a question about something at the official Dungeons and Dragons website this winter, and on a whim I decided to not use my name as my ID for once. The first thing I tried that was available was "Intelligence3". Seemed like a decent in-joke so I stuck with it when I registered at AnandTech. My gaming name is "AuntieBellum" and people usually presume I am female when I use that (I am male, I just like the pun), so to save confusion I only use it in games.

I like fire.

Once I was making a bag of microwave popcorn and saw in big letters: "Warning! Do not overheat as kernels will scorch!" I thought to myself, "Self, that is an awesome word for a handle."

The SW is from the clan I was in for Descent3. The clan is since disbanded, but I still keep the prefix for various reasons.
