I can only imagine what North Carolina is like after getting a foot of snow yesterday. bwahahhaa...

They don't cancel school here unless we get over 14-16 inches...

Wolfie

But I am gonna guess you guys have some really good road cleaning crews. :p Here they are lucky if they can get 3 inchs off!

Here in Indiana the snow crews do a pretty good job with snow amounts up to 5 or 6 inches (we rarely get more, and thus I can't say how well they'd do with more than that). But if we get only 2 or 3 inches, schools still cancel for the day or delay several hours.

I lived in Asheville NC for a year while on Co-op 7 or 8 years ago...we had 7" of snow one friday night, and I didn't get mail til the next thursday...the state shuts down with any amount of snow.

Lived in Buffalo for 2 years, it took a sustained snowfall rate of over 2"/hr to hurt that city.

In Houston now...where it was a brisk 33 when I left the house this morning.

Hey - this is Penguin weather! LOL :p

I was glad that it went up to 29F today because it barely made it to 21F here yesterday. :Q :( I don't think we've gotten above freezing since something like Jan. 13. It was 12 friggin' degrees this morning and my gloved fingers about froze off.

(yes... I know that these temps may seem right "balmy" to some of you, although the winds were howling at like 25mph giving us single digit wind chills... :()

[EDIT: BTW, you are correct that this is a "Poof siting". Do not adjust your monitor. This holographic representation will now go back into hibernation because it is too darn cold... even with all the OCing going on in here! :Q :p]

hahaha You freeze babys. We don't start whining ( at least I don't) unless it gets down to -20F with -80f windchills. Don't think it can happen? It's been -61 in Tower MN before. That's actual air temp. Not including windchill...

Like I said, it takes a lot to live here... Since our Winter Carnival is starting up, they had a little blurp that would just fit in here...

"117 years ago, some St. Paul mover and shakers were stunned to find a New York newspaper labeling their city "another Siberia, unfit for human habination." At that time, St. Paul was the fastest growing city in the country and those who lived in the city knew winter wasn't all that bad."

Oh, and it's a double POOF sighting!!!! Hello there!
