Ostrich meat is like a fine beef filet. Yes, I would gladly eat it more often. :)

Only time I've had ostrich was at a restaurant in St. Louis. It was served to me as a barbeque ostrich cheeseburger. I didn't like it very much, meat was so lean that it had a sort of mealy texture. Maybe they just sucked at t3h ostrich though.

Yes, I have. I found it exceedingly dry... even conservatively prepared.

FWIW, I've eaten many game and wild meats, and it was by far the driest I've had. It almost requires a sauce.

Actually, it's kind of like a cross between red meat and white meat.

I've read that they raise Ostrich just like they do cows, for consumption. I've never tried Ostrich but I would given the chance.

If we weren't meant to eat them they would not be made out of meat.

Sure. I've eaten jellyfish and crocodile. I think I may have had kangaroo but I'm not sure. I won't eat animals that I like domesticated, like dog/cat/hamster.

I've had it in meat "sticks" before. Nothing really special about it. Basically it's just another meat. Not that gamey tasting, and no real overpowering flavor.

I ate Ostrich meat once... nothing really special, tasted like regular beef to me (except it's more chewy)... Don't know what all the hype is about...

To quote Denis Leary:

Red meat, white meat, blue meat, meat-o-f*cking-rama. You will eat it. Because not eating meat is a decision. Eating meat is an instinct! Yeah! And I know what it's about. "I don't want to eat the meat because I love the animals. I love the animals." Hey, I love the animals too. I love my doggy. He's so cute. My fluffy little dog.. He's so cute- There's the problem. We only want to save the cute animals, don't we? Yeah. Why don't we just have animal auditions. Line 'em up one by one and interview them individually. "What are you?" "I'm an otter." "And what do you do?" "I swim around on my back and do cute little human things with my hands." "You're free to go." "And what are you?" "I'm a cow." "Get in the f*cking truck, ok pal!" "But I'm an animal." "You're a baseball glove! Get on that truck!" "I'm an animal, I have rights!" "Yeah, here's yer f*cking cousin, get on the f*cking truck, pal!" We kill the cows to make jackets out of them and then we kill each other for the jackets we made out of the cows.

It's like any other meat; it won't be as good if not properly prepared. I had an ostrich filet at a local place that was so tender you could literally cut it with a fork. Very good stuff.

I've had the Ostrich burgers at FuddRuckers... I think they taste pretty much the same. I've been told that Ostrich meat has a very hiigh iron content though, not sure if this is good or bad. (Not even sure if it's true or not... a friend told me this).

All in all, I'd eat it again. It's supposed to be healthier than beef (which makes me laugh some, because this is fuddruckers we are talking about - who the hell eats a plain burger there).

I've had ostrich meat (fresh), and it was pretty good. Given a choice, though, I'd take zebra, which was much better.

Do you swallow it whole?
