When Bush says "Mission Accomplished" we grab our bibles and flags while shedding a tear of patriotism, yet we can't give Obama credit for anything. What if he pulled out of Afghanistan as quickly as us liberals would have liked?

Quite the contrary. Just as many did the same to Bush. It goes both ways.

It was simply my reply to the bumper sticker statement for 2012 Obama had the smoking gun (errrr, remote control) in his hand while toking a fat Bolivar. 😉

I'm patriotic as hell for all of this, but motivated to promote Obama for 2012? Uhhhh.....not so much!

Seriously, how do we have DNA to confirm his death?

That's fucked up, where and when did we get the DNA?

From back when he was our ally in the Russo/Afghanistan occupation? CIA might have made DNA checks on who was getting free American weapons.

I think it's funny that the world had more or less forgotten about him. We've been focused on building Afghan police & military capability for years... And now this. To be honest, this doesn't change anything. Al Queda will continue to operate as a threat to our national security, and we'll still have to figure out what to do with Afghanistan.

I'm happy that OBL is dead, however, I can't help but perform a little cost-benefit analysis. How many dollars were spent to get him, and what could those dollars have done for us? Since he's been effectively isolated for years, what does it REALLY mean to have him dead? How many other lives were lost, or impacted, to get him, and how long and far will that impact stretch? How many next generation OBL's did we create through our attitudes and actions? Can we justify it all, given that we've essentially changed nothing (ie the idea of terrorism is still alive and well, and always will be)? Can we now call it ANYTHING but revenge?

It's one thing for an individual to seek revenge at all costs, but when a nation does it as policy there are deeper considerations.

To the people wondering about the DNA, you don't need an actual previous sample to compare to the suspected body. You can just compare his DNA to relatives. It's like doing paternity/maternity tests.

at least now we can stop spending those dollars.

Finally. Only took 10 years. They said he was living in a mansion in the middle of Pakistan? How is that?

I wonder if it even matters now. I'm not going to cry over this one bit... not for a second. Good riddance. But I wonder if it makes any difference now.

Since I haven't seen anybody post it yet & folks are still guessing.......

ABC News said that it was his sister's brain where they tapped the DNA to confirm.

This. We shouldn't forget the cost of this news in our jubilation. It will probably have little practical effect on our presence/policies regarding the ME. Time will tell.

wow this is pretty big news, I guess they are saying it was either a bomb, or a gunshot? they have his body and have done a dna check so they must be pretty sure it was him. Kudos to obama, he dose deserve some respect for getting this done.

Link? I think all that shows is that you are related. It seems more reasonable to assume they're using a variety of medical records including dental.

If it was indeed a headshot that did him in, I want to shake the hand of the soldier that pulled the trigger. What a hero!

Fuck yeah. Been waiting to hear this news confirmed for ten years. Good riddance to that mother fucker, it's time to party as far as I'm concerned.

"If he was killed by Predator attacks then Obama gets credit, he ordered the dramatic expansion of the CIA presence in Pakistan and a huge expansion of the drone attacks. Within weeks of him being President they had them pumped up.

Wonder if this is why Pakistan told us to pack up and leave 2 weeks ago.
"

Was about to add this myself just to hear the talk-radio drones piss themselves some more. Hey when's Trumps next video conference on whether he'll be running in 12? 😉

Whether he deserves credit or not, it happened under Obama not Bush's reign.

Bush and a Republican congress however got us into an a multi trillion dollar war with a country that has nothing to do with Al Qaeda, and that's what he'll be remembered for.
